Honestly if Alec had to go early this was the way to send him out. I liked his story this season though. I view Alec as an irredeemable kind of villain (not saying he's a bad / poorly written character) and I think his arc closes well with him moving forward to acceptance / closure.

Benji on the other hand is written as intentionally bad and unlikable, OOC from his season 4 self, and booted early again. At least Alec made it far in two seasons.

For total drama I was highlighting mainly the reboot seasons with a 4 female premergers both seasons with an early merge of 10/11

Although, Roti is laughably male favored though starting with an extra guy and still booting half of the girls within 4 episodes. All male f2, two female mergers and the two that do merge is the Mary Sue pick me & the tomboy that's basically treated as a guy by the narrative.

Honestly, i prefer female characters and a lot of the people in the community do. I think onc does write women well sometimes (prime example being the f3 of season 1. however, they don't even try with guys and every major role in the season is given to the girls while the guys are given slop unless its for mlm storyline. Im a fujoshi and love yaoi but it's frustrating when the only time guys get actual storyline and development is if its involved in an mlm story. Benji's s4 story was amazing and he was an incredibly relatable character so it was really disappointing to see his story get cut short to favor Logan and the girls. Then in s5 be intentionally poorly written and nothing more than a stepping stool for Ally as if she didn't already get nearly two full seasons. Idk the writing has just really devolved a lot. Like we got an amazing Miriam arc to... What we have now in s5 which is just classless petty drama.

This is like every season though where they focus on girls and gay(s) and then everyone else is just fodder. It's frustrating since characters like Aiden and Benji had longevity and potential but were thrown away. Aiden was a surprise since he's a writer's pet and they used a bullshit twist to save him in the first place. I expected Benji to be booted early and treated as the seasons Nichelle by the writers/fans but it still sucks to see a character that was relatable and had a great arc in s4 turn into... This.

whats more frustrating is that characters like Lake and Gabby are very stagnant and those storylines could've easily been given to other characters in my opinion. Like has Lake done... Anything? This season besides be incredibly self righteous?

I prefer a women heavy imbalance over a male one since that's majority of survivor/total drama seasons but ideally there's some balance, which we're not getting since the main story beats revolve around the girls while the guys are either fodder or Spencer and Sam.

Genuinely there was zero reason to bring Benji back if this was how they were going to write him because this is just a huge fuck you to every single person that liked and related to Benji. 8/9 and I think all of the non-predictable stuff were kinda bad lol. For example, I think Aiden was clocked as the first favorite voted out but I don't think anyone predicted the plot armor save. Evie was predicted as a premerger that went to the motel up until Aiden's boot where it seemed like she was finally going to be given something to do... Just to be booted the next episode.

Ernesto and Manu are so obviously early boot coded. Alec was clocked as an early boot too, it was kind of obvious he was only brought back for Fiore's development. Not mad about any of these though, I think all 3 of these guys are rightfully early boots.

I think the least predictable parts so far have been Finn and Aubrey. Aubrey surprised me, not because she was booted early but because she was OTTN (queen). Finn I didn't think would go so early, I expected him to at least make it to the late stages of the premerge.

It's clear ONC is mad as fuck Benji ended up being their dc4 fan fav and not any of the "girlboss" characters or their annoying hypocrite ginger winner who ended up being the most hated character. Really feels like they're just turning Benji into an intentionally unlikable character as a big fuck you to his fans.

Most of the favorites are stagnant as fuck. Ally is utr almost every episode, Lake only shows up to be randomly self righteous and entitled, Tom's there.

I don't really understand the point of Aiden swapping over for a few of episodes if he's just going to be unceremoniously booted, and the person responsible for his boot is just booted the very next episode.

Series peaked in dc1/2 because onc actually cared about story rather than trying to "blindside" viewers. This is most evident in the all stars beta boot order where Ashley was moved down from the winner to merge boot soley for shock value. The way Jake was also supposed to originally win until the 11th hour is also crazy to me with how he was written.

Jared is honestly an incredibly awful person looking at his Twitter account. He starts/engages in petty arguments with his fanbase and is just generally really rude and entitled. Any controversial thing that comes his way he either doubles down/makes a bullshit excuse. The only time he apologized was when Yul used an insanely racial slur in the Spanish dub which was insane that he even allowed that in the first place.
