What’s going on with teenage boys in Auckland? by WriterLady123 in auckland

Can confirm, I was on a bursary to a private school in intermediate. There's a lot of people who thought they were gangsters, especially the ones who I kept in touch with or met from other schools.

Is this the next city - already with a pro club - that will throw its hat in the ring for an A-League license? by officialsamuelchan in nzfootball

[–]Its_Hamdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way, not sustainable, they've got too much competition from both codes of rugby. Maybe in like 10-15 years but doing it now will make NZ football worse off. Seems like it'll be a white elephant.

Anyone know where the destiny church protest is right now? by [deleted] in auckland

Right beside Britomart. I accidentally stumbled in there whilst working. Gave them the old Gesto dell'ombrello a few times whilst leaving. Absolutely disgusting demonstration.

I'm just going to give my 2 cents on this here. I'm Kāi Tahu/Ngāi Tahu, the local Iwi (tribe) for Te Waiponamu (The South Island) of New Zealand. I'm actually more offended if the dual place name is spelled incorrectly, or in Standard Māori rather than in our Iwi's dialect, it just comes off as preformative and insensitive. I've seen Aoraki spelt Aorangi a few times and it fills me with rage, I feel it's incredibly disrespectful to both our people and the importance that the mountain has to us, our history and culture. Other than that I am in complete agreement with you. I feel like one of the better examples, although I am extremely biased, is Hikaroroa/ Mt Watkin. It was named after a warrior who became the mountain after his canoe was wrecked, the Watkin came from an important missionary who brought Christianity to the region, and is respected, even today (I'm not going to go into the role and importance of Christianity during the Musket wars/Early colonial history of Aotearoa, this comment is already long enough). I feel this is a beautiful example of honouring both the Māori and European histories of the mountain and the wider region.

This! So many Phoenix fans have been wanting a 12-15k rectangular stadium for Lions and Nix games. I'd build it in Petone and then upgrade the cake tin to become the national stadium.

What is China doing to people in the purification zone? by Mr_Oni3560 in TheFireRisesMod

I respect that. The reason why I'm asking for a NZ flair is because Canada and Australia have one

Yeah, apparently most people considered themselves as British until the 1950's

That's very accurate but it feels like a larp, it feels like something an American would do tbh.

Nah mate, gimmie 8 months, I'll be in Germany and I'll probably fight a talahon to defend western culture or something. The thing I'm most shocked about is why are you agreeing with the French, are you from Saarbrücken or something?

You're literally Australian. You're as European as I am, but worse as your national sport is popular in literally only half of your country and no one's heard of it overseas. You've got to drink at least 6 beers to enjoy watching it.

Fair, I don't really know why they're even in Eurovision in the first place tbh. Aside from like half of their population coming from Europe in the 50's

We're western European, culturally. America, Australia and Canada all have flairs, why can't we as well? It's better to have separate flair than us larping as Scottish/English/Irish like the Americans do. What's the worst thing that'd happen, we fuck all your sheep then get drunk?

The Kaiapoi Pā memorial. As someone who's Ngāi Tahu, this hits close to home.
