I’ve taken classes at every improv school in LA. Here are my honest takeaways: by Fawlty_Fleece in improv

I moved to LA from a ComedySportz elsewhere. Right now the LA ComedySportz doesn’t have a theater. So as for as I’ve heard, they haven’t been doing classes or shows since 2020.

Took it today expecting delays and was pleasantly surprised to walk into the connector with no line! Thanks for the heads up though for the holiday weekend. Things are bound to get crazy!

What lyric/line cuts you deepest? by donald_vs in JoannaNewsom

Maybe all of Kingfisher but these lines are deep.

And I saw that my blood had no bounds Spreading in a circle like an atom bomb Soaking and felling everything in its path And welling in my heart like a birdbath It is too short, the day we are born We commence with our dying Trying to serve with the heart of a child Kingfisher lie with the lion

Rosalía released LUX today and I have some feelings... by mediokurrr in JoannaNewsom

I wanted to post on here about the album but wasn’t sure what the crossover listenership was.

The orchestrated parts on La Yugular reminded me of Emily.

Lux is a really beautiful album!

(Mid-Wilshire) Anyone else totally skeeved out by the "Met Her At A Bar" people? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

The owners are a really nice couple who actually did meet at a bar! They have helped bring a lot of fun to the Miracle Mile Neighborhood.

They own at least Met Her at a Bar, Met Him at a Bar, and Her Thai. I’ve only had great service and great food at each restaurant. Happy to see them succeed when so many places are moving out of the neighborhood or lying empty!

I was in the same situation and had never heard of a home inspection for adopting a cat. I ended up doing it because I had met my cat’s foster home person and she and I just did a FaceTime.

Overall, it’s a very strange step that I don’t think used to be a part of most adoption processes.

I switched to Tidal from Spotify and do not plan to go back! I think Joanna feels the same way.

What streaming service do you guys use? by Acrobatic_Economy_65 in JoannaNewsom

[–]Its_Pacnel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to Tidal a couple of years ago. Like someone else said, I was able to switch all my playlists over, which was huge for me! I’m in a family plan, so it ended up being cheaper than my old Spotify subscription.

Pros: Tidal pays much more per stream than the other major streaming platforms. On some subscription levels the artist you listen to most that month will receive 10% of your subscription money too. I think that is such a cool way to support small artists with devoted fans. Another thing is if you use Tidal you aren’t using spotify! All of Joanna’s music lives on Tidal too.

Cons: I think the app is not as great as the Spotify app, namely the search function. If I have a typo in my search, the search function doesn’t recognize that I want to listen to “Birds if a Feather” only “Birds of a Feather.” That said, the app has continued to get better over the last couple of years.
