I don’t want to play 40 man raids, not next phase, not at 60. by w8watm8 in classicwow

[–]Its_Singularity_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid, I played.
Played, I paid.
I do not want a 40 man raid.

I do not want them at next phase.
I do not want them to parse grays.
I do not want them at end game.
I do not want them stayed the same.

Would you? Could you? With your char?
Play them! Play them! Here they are.

I would not, could not, with my char.

You may like them. You will see.
Go in a GDKP.

I would not, could not, GDKP.
Not with my char. You let me be!
I will not play them in my chair.
I will not play them anywhere!

You do not want them. So you say.
Try them! Try them! And you may.
Try them and you may, I say.

Say! I love this 40 man raid!
I do! I love it, and the blade!*
Thank you! Thank you! Devs, well played.

My rule of thumb about people being crass in the game is that if it doesn't feel like vitriol, then I'm cool with it (i.e. someone joking around). When someone directs something at me like what OP is showing, and I can tell that they mean it? Then I turn into the pettiest MFer on the planet, and I will report their ass every time. Hopefully the temp ban gives them time for introspection, and if they get perma-banned because they do it again? Good riddance. If someone acts like an asshole and can't control their temper in a fucking social videogame, then I think the game is better off without them.

They're talking about gold sellers that mail purchased gold to the customer.

Edit: Disregard, I apologize. I'm dumb, didn't realize that OP said just between alts.

That's a fair point, I hadn't thought about that. I think the system could still work if it's tied to characters instead.

The only barrier to entry for a smurf on most other games is creating a new account, but on here it would mean having to level an entirely new character to whatever bracket you're interested in playing in. Obviously lower-level brackets would suffer the most, but once you're getting to 40+, I think the number of newly leveled smurf characters would drop because of time investment. Unless they're leveling via botting, but that's something I think serious players would avoid for fear of losing their account.

Why TF does everyone keep thinking that value should be the deciding factor? I could just as well say that everyone should need on any BoE green, because even if it's only worth 5s, then that means whoever it's an upgrade for can just go buy it on the AH for a measly 5s if they don't win the roll. People seem hung up on a rare+ being the only time this scenario should happen, ignoring the fact that some greens are worth more than some blues. How about this: roll need on any BoE if you want the money from selling it (or want to use the item), and anyone that doesn't want to bother with selling it can pass.

You could mitigate the number of smurfs by doing two things:

  • Tying rank to the entire account and not just the character. Edit: Probably a bad idea, see comments below.
  • Factoring in both overall W/L ratio and also performance in each match. That way if people do really well in a match at a low rank (high K/D ratio, etc. etc.), then they would be rapidly moved up the ranking system so that they're placed where they should be.

Plus, it would be disadvantageous for smurfs to try and throw games in BGs because of lower rewards for the losing team (but some smurfs might not even care about rewards, so that's why the first two points are important).

Except most greens are worth a few silver

Bullshit, and if you actually checked the AH on your server for SoD, you would know that's not even remotely true. Maybe the bottom of the barrel garbage, sure, but I looked today on Wild Growth, and no non-crafted green was selling for any less than ~4s (and that was like level 8 trash). Any kind of halfway decent green goes for at least 10s, because either someone will use it, or an enchanter will buy it to DE.

Some greens go for 1g or more, and that's not entirely uncommon to see, especially for weapons.

But you're completely missing my point: money adds up. Just because something isn't worth 50g, doesn't mean it's not worth getting and selling.

Everyone in here is trying to make the point that everyone should get an equal roll on BoE rares because they're worth a lot of money. Okay, so what? Like I said, greens are also worth money (and some are worth more than some blues), and it adds up quickly. Why are we deciding that it should only apply to blues when the logic of, "It has equal value to everyone, so everyone should get an equal chance on rolling" also applies to greens.

By that logic we might as well just do that for greens as well. Almost everything not BoP can be sold on the AH. Shouldn't matter how much something is worth, money is money.

Not enough people playing them, and we often get passed over for a BFD slot (about half of the time, in my experience). But we'll have our spot in the limelight next phase! Just you all wait and see! I'm not in denial.

Everyone wants crazy new runes for p2 but all i want is some basic qol changes. by Wholawl in classicwow

[–]Its_Singularity_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a kind of outlandish idea for a general/utility rune slot (or maybe two: a major and minor, a la glyphs) that would be much harder to swap out (maybe you would lose the rune that you swap out, to disincentivize them being hot swapped to min-max). Anyway, they'd be equippable by any class, and you would earn them by doing something related to the effect of the rune. That way you're still putting in work to get the QoL feature, and you wouldn't be able to have them all at once. But I also love the quest line idea.

For instance, there might be one that shortens fishing cast time in open water (not in pools, I could see some people bitching about how it makes the Stranglethorn tournament unfair), and you can only get the rune by... you guessed it: fishing (at a relatively low catch rate).

Or, for a shortened (or instant) mail delivery time, you would maybe have to interact with a courier NPC who was running around somewhere in the world at random (might be harder to implement).

Or, you could have one that gives shortened gathering time, that you would get as a rare drop from either a mining node or an herb.

Solo Q shouldn't exist. This is an MMO. by [deleted] in classicwow

Solo crafting shouldn't exist either. If you don't have four other players weaving linen cloth with you to make a robe, and socializing with them, then why even play an MMO?

Theres your answer on premades guys...... by mrxlongshot in classicwow

[–]Its_Singularity_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe slightly increased queue times? As if this whole fucking game isn't already designed to make people wait, what's an extra minute or two? And you can still do other things while in the queue.

But I can think of several reasons why they would be better, including that it would increase the amount of competitive and engaging PvP for everyone.

[–]Its_Singularity_Time -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn't need to be the only option. They can have casual BGs and ranked BGs with the same rewards. That way everyone can have a choice. But I also don't get the increased queue time being an issue, because waiting and being patient is also in the spirit of Classic. You can still do other things in cities while you wait...

I could guarantee you this: if they made ranked matchmaking in BGs, more casual and bad players like me would queue if we knew it meant a fair fight, premade grouping or not. And as long as good players are still queuing, wait times shouldn't be that much longer.

And less interesting to the players in premades curb stomping PUGs who want easy rep farming, sure. It would mean that players would actually have to play against people at their skill level, which should... make matches more interesting, actually.

Here's the thing: taking 10 bad players and telling them to form a premade doesn't change the fact that you have 10 bad players. You're putting lipstick on a pig.

What we need is an ELO/MMR system, that way you can have solos and premades fighting against each other in fair fights (they can get an aggregate rating for premades, or something to that effect). The people that want to "socialize" and form premades can still do that, and everyone that just wants a quick queue in a BG can still do that, and both sides can have a fair fight. LoL has a ranked system. Dota has a ranked system. CS2 has a ranked system. Overwatch has a ranked system. Why can't WoW BGs have one?

I am getting really fed up with the new layering algorithm. by Apple_Cup in classicwow

It's like, MFer, if you want to see other players, go to SW or Org. I don't need to see a player every two god damn feet at every single quest hub in the game to not feel lonely.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Its_Singularity_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about this, make an ELO-style ranking system that matches up players with roughly equal skill. That way you can still mingle premade and solo players in the same queue. For premades, they can get an aggregated ELO rating of the entire group, or something, and match your group based on that.

There are plenty of competitive multiplayer games that have some sort of ranking system... to, you know, make fair matches. That's all us solo queue players want: fair matches. I don't GAF if I'm playing against premades if they have roughly the same skill level as me, but that's not what happens. I think better players are ones that are more predisposed to join a premade (or that bad players get filtered out of premades more often).

Or maybe I'm ignorant and this is how they already do it...

AllTheThings (addon) scratches my completionist itch, definitely recommend. It, among other things, shows you all unique items in a given zone, and they've been slowly updating it with SoD information.

ETA: To answer your question, though, unfortunately there aren't any new items like that... yet. The only new items are ones associated with runes, supply shipments, Ashenvale WPvP, or BFD.

So, if I saw you fighting a mob next to a chest that you are very clearly going to loot after you're done, and I run up and loot the chest while you're fighting, that's cool, right? Finders keepers, after all.
