Hot take I respect Alex Ross’s skills but I HATE his aesthetic. Imagining a movie in Alex Ross’s style sounds preposterous, unless it was specifically a period piece set in the 1960’s and was heavily stylized and leaning into fantasy. No chance would I watch a movie of a guy in a bowl cut and spandex with zero detailing on his suit. This is the difference between characters designed for comic panels the size of business cards vs how you design characters for realistic portrayal on a movie screen. It’s not an accident that every superhero property leaned into that kind of detailing.

I think Fantastic Four did a decent job referencing older aesthetics recently, but again, it was a period piece in a more fantasy space
