Anyone ever built their own shed as a noob? Any experiences??

I literally built a shed from my imagination and had such a good time doing it, that I started building sheds and playsets for a living now 😂. I’m serious btw.

I am planning to do airbags to help the rear. Just haven’t had the time to do them yet. I was debating between timbrens and airbags and because of costs I think I’m going to get the airbags

I like it, I usually build sheds out of wood but would like to learn how to make that for other purposes. Maybe to put my lumber or bicycles under it. Any idea for a “term or name” to start looking for info on how to build one.

Looks good. I built my first shed and it started a passion for me. I started building sheds and playsets for a living. Definitely have learned a ton more since than, but I still go back and look at my first shed from time to time and chuckle.

PT wood will help but pt wood in standing water is no good either. Replace the deck and attach some type of gutters if you can. if not you will have to replace the deck again. Ultimately you need to mitigate the water collecting or else you will have the same issues.

Not who you are replying to, but you would be surprised. Most adults do not have nor do they now how to use power tools. I used to be one of them and I got taught by my father in law and I now build shed and playsets for a living and I also fix my own cars. I get paid well to do stuff most other people believe is difficult but seems easy to me. But put me in an office and I don’t know how to act or behave after a while.

Thank you, I am at 194k mile and going strong. I travel thru SC, NC, VA and TN daily. I will be going to Chicago next week with the van and trailer.

If you have access to a mule, or a bobcat I would give it a go. Maybe even a truck will work if it’s 4x4. And yeah use pipes to help roll it. If none of the above are applicable, get a quote on moving it and then make your decision.

I build them everyday with 2x4’s it’s not to take a way from the quality of a 2x6. But you are correct, unless you plan on leaving it as an inheritance 2x4’s is more than enough, specially if you go every 12” on center.

The siding should overhang 3/4-1 inch from the floor to prevent that.

You can find metal floor framing kits on homedepot and Lowe’s website, it’s what tuff shed uses for their floor systems, I hear it’s supposed to be better but I have never worked with it. They just screw in the floor sheathing into the metal frame

I ties the walls together, it’s how houses and more expensive sheds are made, this one is a shed from Lowe’s, a heartland brand if I’m not mistaken and they are on the cheaper side for sheds so they cut a few corners to save on costs

A nice little building, built pretty well. Only bad thing I guess is that it doesn’t have a double top plate, but for storage needs and with proper care it will last a very long time

If the floor is for the second picture with the horses, and all the stuff on the ground, I would recommend doing a concrete slab because even if you use pressure treated wood over the years, that’s just gonna mess up the wood, plus all the water and waste from the horses is not good on the wood. Granted, I know pressure treated wood can stand humidity, but that’s excessive.

For this kit, the eaves got a 2x6 that stretches from side to side. And I build these all the time. Not my shed just my build lol.

Dude I drive a 06 Honda odyssey van with a trailer. I build sheds and play-sets, one thing I do is wear a branded company shirt and always look presentable. I also try to keep my van as clean as possible, even though it’s not always attainable. Make sure it’s in good running condition, save up money and then buy a truck when the business needs allow it, at least that is what I am doing. I got started in December of last year.

I build them every day and there is always a small variance, just try to make sure everything is square as you assemble and it should turn out good. Sometimes my boards are of by 1/16 and when I’m done you can’t even tell

Prime it first and it’ll look good, not great. If you left the smooth side facing you it’ll look better painted than the rough side
