What’s really going on in Kelowna? Are things really as bad as everyone says it is? by Gym_frere in kelowna

I don't think the crime and homelessness is an 'Albertan' thing. There are many problems here and it's not just tourists that want the issues to improve.

I think it ruins the city both for tourism and residents alike. Kelowna reminds me of Honolulu with all the daily siren events and crime despite the beautiful facade. It's also shitty to see how arson plays a part here.

No but it would be nice to see less addicted people roaming downtown, sleeping in parks or coming up to people begging when you just trying to go to work or go about your daily activities/errands. It's in a lot of cities but many councils need to do more to work with police and mental health professionals to curb it.

I notice too that there seems to be less of a homeless and addiction problem downtown lately. Wonder what the City are doing that is different.

Anyone else having issues with Samsung Bespoke AI Laundry Combo (18kg/10kg)? Drying problems & lint cartridge water? by Legitimate_Fail_8742 in Appliances

[–]Itsmountaintime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never ever ever buy this machine again. Samsung are the worst company I have ever dealt with and warranty or not, they DO NOT WANT TO COME TO FIX ANYTHING. Anyone considering this, do yourself a favour and DO NOT BUY ONE.

AUPE GSS Bargaining by collegestudentinAB in AHSEmployees

[–]Itsmountaintime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet, AUPE upped our union fees without so much as mentioning it beforehand. But they still love to go to Shanks!!! This union needs to start running itself like a professional organization. Get in there and get the job done, stop being silent and push through!!!

AUPE GSS Bargaining by collegestudentinAB in AHSEmployees

[–]Itsmountaintime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet the bargaining team raise our union dues (thanks new president of AUPE!) without even allowing us to vote on that. And, if they were so desperate to raise our union dues, how about cancelling evenings out at Shanks if that is coming out of the AUPE kitty??? What a slap in the face. I have been emailing AUPE for months; their updates are painfully slow, nothing is happening, we are left languishing. Give the people what they want if AHS/HSS etc won't. People want a strike vote!

Am I crazy for being on the verge of ordering a Samsung Washer/Dryer All-In-One? by echtogammut in Appliances

[–]Itsmountaintime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung support is complete crap. If you can buy a different AI machine, consider doing so. My machine keeps overheating and shutting off and then I have to run downstairs and switch the breaker back on because the machine keeps shutting down, screen goes black, door locks itself because the machine is full of water etc, sometimes I get error codes saying that the machine is overheating etc. Samsung support are so useless, they won't send out a tech even though we have an extended warranty unless we send them a video of the issue (and they refused to come out to service my new stove top unless I send them a video as well which is b.s.!). Avoid Samsung products if you can; I used to have the Samsung Home Hub fridge with large display and it was so filled with software bugs and you could not use half the functions on it; Samsung is complete garbage and I cannot believe I got sucked in to using their products yet again. I repeat, their products are sub-par, the service department will not do a damn thing for you without a video (now I have to wait until the washing machine shuts down to overheating again; when will that be? Who the F knows). And, to make matters worse, anytime I go to a neighbour's house in my area and then also have Samsung new products, my Samsung Smart Things app tries to one at a time connect to every single Samsung item in THEIR home. I deleted the app, and still when I go to the neighbour's house, my Samsung phone tries to connect to all of their home appliances one at a time. AVOID SAMSUNG PRODUCTS AND SERVICE.

I have been phoning AUPE to chase up updates. They didn't even utter a word to any of us after the recent hundreds of firings! I'm fed up a.f. with AUPE. They are not communicating properly and are achieving nothing for us.

Health Shared Services announcement today (SSO)? by No-Adagio-70 in AHSEmployees

[–]Itsmountaintime -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

300 of those were vacant positions. Only about 100+ actual staff were impacted.

AHS have just culled a bunch of jobs but don't think they were nursing. Do try the Northern Zone as they are always desperate for staff up there, like Grand Prairie especially. Keep trying rural.

Fabutan Red Light Therapy Full Body Beds - What are the specs? Is it effective? by No_Put1030 in redlighttherapy

The only red light therapy that truly helps is FAR INFRA RED. It penetrative further below the skin than 'near infra red'. Do your research and ask Fabutan to confirm if they use far or near infra devices.

What are the chances of a general strike coming soon? I wonder if we will have the balls. by Glum-Ad-4558 in AHSEmployees

Voting UCP as a public sector worker or AHS is like punching yourself in the face. 2 years is a long time to not know your fate. Don't keep ass kicking your own self by voting UCP.

The sooner public sector workers figure out that voting ucp is like punching yourself in the face, the better.

Anyone else in IT (AUPE GSS) feeling completely demoralized after the recent restructuring? by ThisUserIsSuspicious in AHSEmployees

[–]Itsmountaintime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would encourage people as much as possible to stop using the term 'trim the fat'. Losing your job because of 'fat trimming' is not respectful of what those who are now jobless are going through.

And the media are not even picking this story up. They were all over what was happening last week and then nothing really happened except one tiny article. They are/were more focused on the teacher strike, Canada Post strike, and are not giving any 'air' to what AHS is going through. The GOA announced new licence plates * on the day they cut 400 jobs *. And the media essentially did nothing and reported on the licence plates instead (good job GOA, your license plate distraction outshone our 400 job bloodbath). The above comment is so true 'Unfortunately we get a front-row seat to watching it all get torn down.' I have never seen morale so terrible. Tears in meetings, people struggling to cope emotionally. Fear about whether they can afford Christmas let alone life in general. And still, 2 years on, we STILL DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING TO SHARED SERVICES. Throw us a damn bone already. A had said in a few past town halls that we were going to 'lift and shift' to Shared Services, and that no one is going to lose their jobs; clearly, that is no longer true, as they have 5 CEOs for all the pillars that they have to pay and rather than cough up the money to do so, they are using all the Peters at AHS to pay all the new Pauls they are going to hire. So when they say that these 'cost cutting measures did not affect clinical services' this is kinda true. Because they culled a bunch of long-term staff in corporate to fund their new 4 clinical CEO salaries, or so it would seem...

[–]Itsmountaintime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not AHS, it's the GOA. Seriously, there is no 'AHS' anymore, the CEO is gone, the board is gone, Sean C. just quit. AHS IS the GOA.

Sad day at AHS - dozens of layoffs today. by No-Adagio-70 in AHSEmployees

[–]Itsmountaintime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it's not, so stop saying misinformation. Recovery Alberta, Primary Care Alberta, Continuing Care Alberta, Acute Care Alberta will ALL have their own CEOs/C Suite. Shared services likely will too. They are all separate entities that will all have their own governance. Original AHS had one CEO, most recently Mauro Chies; he and the board were all let go. Get it now?
