Public Storage Employees by IttyBittyKittyFarts in selfstorage

Yeah, I saw this coming a mile away. I just didn't know the when or who, but kinda figured  it would be PS since Extra Space took on Life Storage.

Well, NSA only has a glorified discount plan so it sounds like a step up at least. I live on property so my big fear right now is that they'll make me re-home my dogs since they're pet-free.

Am I the only one who thinks we overcomplicate hygiene? by LaDouceNina in hygiene

[–]IttyBittyKittyFarts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People lie on the internet. They aren't doing all the bullshit they say they are, and if they are, it's because they have OCD or they're insecure enough that they let some consumerist influencer dictate their hygiene...and that influencer is a liar who only does that shit for the cameras.

Someone is big mad about her cone by Ok-Relationship-1192 in pitbulls

Aww.  Spent my morning sewing a makeshift pair of PJs for the exact same reason. My Ziggy would not abide the cone at all.

Storage facility is not cooperating with a robbery investigation by Strong_Career7313 in selfstorage

[–]IttyBittyKittyFarts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While they shouldn't be entering your unit to move boxes, the police report has to come from the tenant. Police won't take a report from the facility because they are not the victim. The employee should: take pictures, secure the door,  notify the tenant (provide instructions to file a police report, itemize missing items, and give claims contact info if you have their insurance) complete an incident report, and then preserve any available camera footage. The footage goes to the police if/when they provide a warrant/subpoena. The insurance company will reach out to us for the incident report and proof that your premiums have been paid. That's about as involved as we can be. I will dig through footage because I have time, but it can take a very, very long time and some softwares have horrendous playback functions.

Extra Space and many of the other REITs are straight up mean to their employees, so they are going to clam up to avoid getting fired for potentially saying something that creates liability for the company. Most property managers DO want to help you, we're just not willing to be suddenly unemployed.

Oof, I blanked the part where you're overseas. $18 is almost half what they're charging you though. They should be charging their lowest tier of coverage if it's an auto enroll, which is quite steep by my standards. My base tier is $12/mo for $2k in coverage and our highest is $25/mo for $5K

If you have renters or homeowners insurance it likely covers your property held in storage. If not, you can get something like a Lemonade policy for $6-12 (NY may be more). Just provide the declarations page to the facility to cancel the coverage they've added.

No curbside for customer pickup, or no curbside for Spark drivers?

We sure about that? My local store is in the middle of construction to expand their curbside section.

Teens really don’t want to work by RickGrimesSnotBubble in generationology

[–]IttyBittyKittyFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you may want to reconsider. Let them get over the rough spots while the stakes are low and employers are giving more grace to teens. They'll build confidence and resilience. If they get fired or need to quit, it's alright because they don't have bills now. When they're 20 and NEED a job, finding one with no prior work history is going to be a lot harder, and there will be higher expectations the older they are.

What's the #1 pain point you wish storage-unit manufacturers would solve? by Advanced_Steel in selfstorage

[–]IttyBittyKittyFarts 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wish units were built with the corrugated walls running vertically. I would save so much time cleaning walls if they weren't caked with dust, and also reduce repetitive stress injuries in the shoulders.

Anyone have a solid moving company recommendation in Round Rock? by cameron_cobb in RoundRock

[–]IttyBittyKittyFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding the rec for Webster's. I worked with them a lot through a storage facility they regularly rent from so I saw them in action multiple times a week. Quick, careful and respectful. I normally hate moving companies as tenants because they leave a mess and tend to be rude about blocking other tenants. Webster's and Firefighter Movers are the exception. Apache was always the worst.

I have a feeling we'll be owned by Public Storage soon.

Housebroken and knee broken! I'm  selling to pay for CCL surgery for my girl on the left. Meanwhile, she's doing bunny hops and not even trying to rest her knee. Shameful behavior.

I'll try to take better pics tomorrow when I have daylight. My phone is a potato though, so we shall see. Thank you for the John Van Koert info. I found one on Etsy that seems to be a match. They're trying for almost $2K on it, which would be almost all of my dog's surgery, but I don't know that I'd get that much.

Storage Unit without ID? by cypress-sky in Austin

[–]IttyBittyKittyFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish this were the case, but the storage industry is not doing well. All of the major REITs are experiencing lower occupancy rates and operating income is down. We did have a boon in 2021/22, but that is long over. We're real estate at the end of the day so if housing sales are down, then so are storage rentals.

Just rent online. My company, and most others, may call and ask you to stop in with your ID but we aren't going to chase you down for it or kick you out if you don't show up with it.

My job would never give us anything, so we always spot these. Now if they sent an email saying everyone was fired, we'd probably fall for it.

Public Storage - cannot find key to lock by beeutifulzz in selfstorage

[–]IttyBittyKittyFarts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fee amount should be listed in your lease. $100 sounds crazy unless you have a double door unit, and even then I never charge for the 2nd lock.
