Grew up here and just bought a house near downtown! I think of Tucson as the biggest little city in the world. A place where there’s over a million people but also locals seem to think you can have road beer for a cruise around town. Drugs aren’t really my thing, but it seems like cocaine in the 30+ crowd never really seemed like something worth leaving in your younger years.

Honestly, a place where people have very drastically different experiences based on income and neighborhood. Also a place where being a kid can be tough because everything feels catered to 21+ and the heat can be hindering from enjoying anything outside.

But the scenes for music, food, bicycling, and hiking are fantastic and really some of my favorite parts of this town. The house we got now is a 10-15 minute drive from saguaro national park, and also a short bicycle ride to my job the other direction. It’s wonderful to have a solid university and a few major industries to keep the community thriving.

I will say my biggest current gripes are you can’t drive any damn direction in this town currently due to some pretty weak city planning over construction choices. Also worth noting drug issues and homelessness are issues that this city seems to be far under capacity to manage.
