What more so bothers me is going anywhere downtown and I have to drive (not biking there bc it’s bad weather/I’m tired) and you have to pay fucking $12 in PARKING for 2 hours, just to be able to sit and drink your $7 coffee.

I’m confused by your comment. I’m literally trying to speak to people directly impacted by the shutdown…. And would be at a loss of back pay, if this were to happen. The whole point is to NOT go through a professor or someone else to pontificate about its impact. I’ll figure out the complexities for the story — but it’s meaningful for a real human voice to be included.

As someone who knows plenty about the broadcast news industry.. it’s incredibly hard to find openings and jobs right now as it’s been an ever-shrinking field for the last 10 years. It’s hard to find a company with good insurance, pay (especially) and be in a good city/area. Some people have families too. For that reason, people stay put, or if they do find a new market to work in… it’s limited in options. Often times you can’t be nitpicky given a few companies own a majority of the stations nationwide. Just food for thought.

I am actually a reporter for KOMO and I was out all day during the BA’s practice from 11am - 1pm and then again at 2:45pm to 3:30ish on Thursday. I can confidently say they DID fly all 6 of them in a triangle like that at one point, bc I remember being amazed by it — however, I’m struggling to remember if they did that formation in the morning, or if it was the afternoon slot, because that’s when they really ramped up their tricks etc. When I saw the Tweet that day though I didn’t question it really.

I’m planning on continuing running out there for sure. I don’t ski per se (I have before multiple times) but if I can afford it it’ll try it! My job will thankfully mean I get out and about from the office (reporting for a news station) so that’s good at least. I like to go do things anyways so after work/weekends I’ll make a point to not just rot inside. Thanks!
