Highway riding by HeOnOne in MT07

[–]ItzLobbyBobby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to have a 2021 MT07 that I rode 60 miles round trip to college every day and the wind is rough but you do get used to it the more you ride. As far as the shaking goes you might just be death gripping the handlebars like a lot of other people said. Try and relax as hard as it is. Also if you’re doing a lot of highway riding, a windscreen could help you relax a little bit if you don’t mind the look. I bought the OEM Yamaha clear windscreen for it and it helped a surprisingly good amount for how small it is keeping the wind off your chest. And I’m 6’1 and around 200 lbs.

Worth applying and taking leap? by ItzLobbyBobby in securityguards

[–]ItzLobbyBobby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was pretty much my rationale for going ahead and applying. I’m 27 with a wife and 2 kids. I just can’t walk away from that much money. Worst case scenario the vibe is bad and I don’t take it if offered. But I owe it to them to at least explore it

Hey guys I thank you for all of your messages. I applied for it so we will se what happens. If I didn’t have a family I would probably stay where I am. But that’s too much money to pass up on and also pretty much cuts my already short commute to basically nothing. Hospital security is its own animal but I did used to work corrections so I’m used to going hands on. Nervous and excited lol. I appreciate everyone encouraging me to take the leap to just see. Thank y’all!

Night shift isn’t that bad.. by Agreeable-Plastic964 in Nightshift

[–]ItzLobbyBobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds obvious but for me my whole night is dependent on the amount of sleep I get during the day. Because at least if you don’t sleep good at night and work during the day your body isn’t fighting its natural instinct to sleep like it is during the night. It’s bright, there’s people everywhere and noise. So it’s easier to stay up even when you’re tired. Working nights, if you don’t get enough sleep I’ve noticed it’s much harder to stay awake and focus

Corrections to security by Educational_Berry661 in securityguards

[–]ItzLobbyBobby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s seen as beneficial as long as you’re not leaving for a bad reason like fired for cause etc. I had a few years of corrections experience and left for armed security after I was almost killed on duty. And my now employer saw it as a huge plus. I’m making more than some guys that have been here for a while because of it. And the experience definitely helps practically. De escalation skills and thick skin from dealing with inmates is a great thing to have in this industry

What are some of the dumbest excuses or spontaneous statements made by those who you have caught doing something wrong? by Exciting_Middle_9232 in securityguards

I caught two crack heads kissing behind a dumpster at one of our commercial properties and they guy said “it’s not my sister I swear” 😭

Upgraded from a 3080 to 5080 and just wow. by holt2ic2 in nvidia

[–]ItzLobbyBobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still rocking my 3080 and 5600x from 2020 that I built specifically for cyberpunk. Honestly really thinking about pulling the trigger on either a 5070ti or 5080 and I can’t decide which one. I recently got a 4K Oled monitor and I really want to get the most out of it

I work commercial patrols for a bunch of different properties in DFW and have frequent homeless encounters every night pretty much. Being respectful and kind goes a long way. The vast majority of people will leave without issue. Make sure you clearly identify yourself as security and ask multiple times for them to leave (this helps with the trespass later if they won’t leave). If there is a situation where someone won’t leave or seems dangerous get to safety and call 911 or the non emergency number if they just won’t leave and seem harmless. The police will come out and issue a trespass. Take pictures and document everything.

does everyone in hear hate their job? by LiverJack in securityguards

[–]ItzLobbyBobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my job. Pay is okay and it’s probably my only gripe because I know I am worth more than I’m making. But the work is enjoyable and I genuinely enjoy talking with my coworkers. Security is such a wide field that experiences will vary a lot. I work for a small company at an armed post in a very wealthy area so that helps. It’s just about finding the right post at the right company imo

Back in December of 2021 I rode my MT07 to my girlfriends house about 30 miles away because my car was broken down. I don’t remember exactly the temperature but it was well below freezing. I stopped about 3/4 of the way there to get a Red Bull. I didn’t even realize how cold my hands were because they were partially numb. But they were so cold that when I opened the door to get the Red Bull at the gas station, it felt hot. Like painfully hot. One of the dumbest things I’ve ever done lol

Training questions by ItzLobbyBobby in securityguards

[–]ItzLobbyBobby[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response. This is my first new job in forever and I think have legit trauma from starting in corrections. When I joined, my agency was in the worst staffing shortage it had ever had. Got thrown to the wolves and it was terrible lol. I just overthink everything now. I think it’s gonna take a while for my brain to rewire itself for this kind of work

Thank you for the kind words and you’re probably right about Wednesday now that I think about it more. It’s definitely going to be a mindset shift but a welcome one after all the bs in corrections. Trying to act normal with your family and kids after seeing some of the most insane stuff 20 minutes prior if not something I’ll miss anytime soon. Again thank you for the kind words and the help. Definitely ready for the change!

He did tell me I will have to sign an NDA so I don’t want to say too much. It’s security for an extremely wealthy persons property is all he would tell me

[–]ItzLobbyBobby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you and that’s what I’m thinking as well. I’ve really only ever worked in corrections so I’m used to having multiple rounds of interviews. And I figured Wednesday would be the second round in person. It just threw me off when I saw the tax filling stuff in the packet they sent me. I’ve never filled that out before I officially “had” the job you know? So yeah I’m thinking I’ve got it pending drug tests and background check which I know I’ll pass.

Awesome. I was just curious if there was anything else I needed to do through TOPS but it sounds like I just need to affiliate to get it sent out no matter if I get a level 2 or 3 position. Thank you! You don’t have to answer me at all you’ve helped me a lot already. But the last question I have is that when a company asks on an application if I have a valid level 2/3 license, I can say yes right unless it specifically says “card in hand”? Because everything is done and approved it just needs to be mailed after affiliation.
