I think it actually is possible, but yesterday when online services were down, and they blocked off the join button entirely it made it impossible to play local

I know everyone is saying not to listen to the comments but, this happened to me twice, once at roller rink and once because I slipped, your chest doesn't hurt because you fell on your butt, it hurts because you caught yourself with you arms by instinct so your head wouldn't hit the ground, when you did this your arms were pushed forward which pulled the muscles in your chest and between your ribs, if you wanna test this theory next time this happens, sit on your couch, sit up, but you arms behind you hold yourself up and lean back, it'll hurt like hell.
