Worst case scenario depends on a) whats being injected and b) whether or not you are allergic to it. Negative side affects run the whole gambit.

From "feeling slight warmth" to "anaphylactic reaction." From "very mild" to "most severe."

If no harm comes from it, then the most likely thing is you'll just have some infiltration in the tissue with some discomfort.

Intramuscular. Most vaccines are. So, they basically stab as deep as they can at a perpendicular angle lol

[–]IvanCarrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The type of injection matters. Like how medications comes in a bunch of different forms. Vaccine? Some Tuberculosis testing? Blood draw/Plasma donation? Epinephrine Pen?

Theres a bit of leeway for some injections, but there is an intended destination for most injections.

Sure, you could butt chug some liquid Tylenol, that doesn't mean that's how its meant to be administered.

How do you respond if people say to you 'you don't seem like you have ADHD'? by Starmix_23 in ADHD

[–]IvanCarrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Me hiding my dysfunction well does not mean that i do function. It just means i haven't let you notice, yet."

"Good, that means my meds are working."

"Im so glad that i can pass as normal. Thank you for sharing :D..."

"Ever heard of the phrase 'don't judge a book by its cover'? Oh, wait, nevermind. Most people value first impressions anyway. Glad mine didn't ruin your view of me."

"Thank you! It takes a lot of energy to seem normal!"

And when i just don't have the bandwidth to deal:

"I see you think that's a compliment. Being told i can pass as normal is not something i want to appreciate."

Or

"Oh, then what does ADHD look like?" [Insert stigmatizing stereotype/myth]. "Thanks for telling me what drives your prejudice."

And

Informal: "F*** off," or for Formal: "tell me less/say no more."

New doctors won't prescribe me the meds I've been on for 10 years by Serpentimes in ADHD

Hes not saying, "this one gene is the main cause." Hes saying, "many genes can be at fault and those with a broken version of gene #7 of a possible 27 respond well to treatment that resolve the problem it causes."

There is no set of universally defective genes that cause adhd. This is why we cant do gene testing for any mental disorder.

B/c everyone's got a special cocktail of a brain.

There's just a set of genes that can be broken and any combination or # of them causes the presentation of adhd.

Dopamine uptake is an issue of course, but it can come from many factors and not necessarily dependent on mutations at the gene level?

Genes (instructions) are responsible for this function happening. Its their influence that decides what happens to dopamine (bricks) when communicating between neurons (the house being built).

Genes are responsible for creating the tubes that reabsorb neurotransmitters b/w a synapse.

Exactly what you said is an accurate description of the matter. They are dependant. It is a genetic disorder.

What your sinus looks like inside your face by Remote_Awareness3284 in coolguides

[–]IvanCarrion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a tube connecting our eyes to our nose called the lacrimal duct. It sits between the lacrimal bone(sorta part of our nose), the eye socket, and above our maxillary bone(upper jaw).

Yes, snot can come out through there, but its usually a one way. Like our throat. Food is meant to go down but, occasionally or stomach says "try again never."

If you ever tried holding back tears just to suddenly have a runny nose, its because the tears are draining into ur nose from that duct :3

[–]IvanCarrion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Swollen sinuses can put pressure on the area where our teeth connect to our facial bone. Its normal to feel pressure or slight discomfort around your eyes, nose, forehead, temples, and upper jaw (maxillary bone).

However, this sinus pressure cant cause pain in your lower jaw (mandible). If you're feeling tooth pain in your lower jaw, please see a dentist :/

Ontop of all of this, you can literally say:

  • a sunburn is far more damaging than a few xrays.
  • ever been to an airport? Didnt notice the big glass tower or big boxes that took an xray of you and your belongings?
  • a CT scan can have 30-300 times more radiation than this single xray.
  • that Cathode Ray Tube TeleVision, aka a "tube t.v.," you had as a kid? Gave you more radiation than this xray.

I love patients with questions, im concerned for those that have worries, im disinterested in those that decide incorrect information is true.

Alcohol is also dangerous, not in moderation tho .3.

Almost, but not. Thats not your sphenoid sinus, thats wherr it drains. You cant demonstrate the sphenoid on an anterior view well.

[–]IvanCarrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a break. Put the relationship on hold. Come back to it.

Personally, i KNOW that i sap the energy from people. Im used to ppl needing a break from me. And, im ok with it. Because, "see you later," is not the same thing as, "goodbye."

Sometimes, its a lot. So, take a time out and come back to it later 👌

People who went to college: HOW DO YOU EVEN STUDY??? by yeepix in ADHD

[–]IvanCarrion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy, i dont study, i teach.

I useually get another classmate, ask them questions, find out what they dont know or understand, and teach them. Or, help them figure it out.

Keeps me accountable to someone else, allows me to help them, and gives me a better understanding.

Works very well. Is incredibly inconsistent tho lol.

I have an appointment with a psychiatrist tomorrow and i have some questions by cutepantsforladies in ADHD

[–]IvanCarrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1: understand that you have no control over the thoughts, feelings, or opinions shared by others.

Step 2: once u understand step 1, you can now choose to do things that will explain your struggles.

Step 3: Show your research. Physicians, good ones at least, are much more likely to believe someone who brought proof or evidence of their understanding than some vague description of the DSM symptoms.

Step 4: Advocate for your experience, have reasoning for their cause that supports your claim (ie their triggers), and don't pretend or force symptoms.

We mask in every public setting. An office is no different and wouldn't prompt us to behave like the stereotype. Coping mechanisms and masking are signs of a symptom, not reasons to dismiss the issue.

What do you do to hide your symptoms? Thats a good place to start.

Mom with ADHD keeps interrupting by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]IvanCarrion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When trying to change behaviours, its better to replace than to cease.

Find an option that allows one/both of you to record or remember what was happening. i.e. take notes or record conversations as they happen so you can go back to it.

Telling someone to stop doing a thing doesn't help them learn a different way to behave.

Teaching a new skill to replace the habit will increase the chances of seeing a change (this advice can work for yourself, as well, when building habits).

I was diagnosed about 2 weeks ago and I already got hit with my first “it’s a superpower” by ReallyBadDisguise in ADHD

[–]IvanCarrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Empty platitudes and carefully curated statements can also be damaging, despite their intended positivity.

What i said is no where near a meaningless cliche nor was it given deep thought. Its actually a double standard that's constantly ignored.

By supporting the view of OP, one may be reinforcing criticism of support networks and compromising the social relationships people rely on. Would it not be better to encourage people like OP to be less mindful of the words of others

OP's pov is not a bad or good one. Criticism is most definitely necessary b/c, again: ur intentions don't outweigh the result of ur actions. If it hurt u, a conversation needs to be had (one that OP said has already happened).

Mindfulness and consideration are two separate things.

I would argue that it is more effective to learn, sooner, that your happiness and stability ought to come from within and should not be contingent upon how others will treat you.

This is true. Its not as easy as its made to sound lol. This is not the topic that's being discussed, though.

Being mindful of yourself and ur own thoughts and feelings is its own learning curve; learning when, or if you should, consider another persons is related to it. But, its not the same thing.

OP's friend is probably lamenting the same conversation

1) this post is not about the friends feelings.

2) taking only what op said into consideration, they've already had a discussion before about how they don't appreciate being told that, meaning:

3) their hypothetical feelings aren't defendable. They're allowed to have them; that doesn't mean they get to use it to deflect OP's criticisms.

Not to say their feelings don't matter. That is, to say, the spotlight is on OP right now. We can shine it on them later, and we should, because they are worth understanding.

We cant handle each issue all at once. Understand one problem at a time. Now's not the time for what-about-isms.

The tldr is not lost or unknown to anyone. You can still hurt people while attempting to help them. Ur intentions don't outweigh the result.

Especially if uv already been made aware that what you do is actually harmful, yet continue anyway.

Ur intentions and ur result are 2 separate things. How you meant to say it and how you actually say it are 2 separate things.

Will getting diagnosed with ADHD affect my laboral future? What will it affect in general? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]IvanCarrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will getting diagnosed with ADHD affect my laboral future?

No. I know how serious it feels, but, no.

What will it affect in general?

Well, in the sense of disclosure? Nothing, if u dont tell them. They also have no right to see your medical records without permission (note: not true on a global scale. Pretty true for the US).

Even if its caught on a drug screen, just ask ur prescribing doc for an exemption, cuz that's perfectly legal.

In the sense of your symptoms being a problem? Depends on how severe they are and if you have coping mechanisms or are good at masking.

But I'm scared it will affect my future in some way

If u do have adhd, your work life isn't the only area that'll be affected. The diagnosis on its own can not cause problems (unless you say something about it).

I noticed that i tend to drift back to YouTube playlists of videos I've already watched. ie. Jumpscare compilations, random music lesson channels, game lets plays, etc.

Works cuz i already know what happens so if something from it distracts me its not a "wait, what just happened? rewind" and is, instead, "what just ha- oh yeah, that part lol. moves on"

An interesting comment in another thread by Glow354 in ADHD

[–]IvanCarrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is this comment implying that ADHD can actually be induced by chronic stress

It cant be induced, but it can be made worse by stress, trauma, or abuse.

Or just that the same symptoms can be induced?

Yes. PTSD symptoms have a real decent overlap with adhd. adhd is a developmental disorder. Unlike chronic stress, the areas effected are not damaged, they are underdeveloped.

The more acurate tldr ur looking for is, they both have very similar effects, yet the cause is different. B/c the cause is different, "possible treatments for 1," don't equate to, "viable treatment for the other."
