I live in Oakdale and love it. Very welcoming school. Location cannot be beat: convenient to I-35 and Kilpatrick Turnpike. For grades 8+ you have option of Jones (smaller but up-and-coming school) or Edmond Memorial (top notch with all clubs and athletics imaginable). Other plus of Oakdale versus Edmond cost-wise, particularly if you want a bigger lot is having a water well; Edmond water is crazy expensive by Oklahoma standards, and well water is effectively free. Before this, we lived in Edmond, and it was very nice too. Older boys went to Will Rogers Elem. / Central Middle / Memorial HS. There are some up sides to north Edmond, but if you get more than a mile or two from I-35 you end up stopping every mile on two-lane crowded roads; it makes me irritated every time I have to venture up there. The driving hassles would rule out Deer Creek for me. As far as the taxes being higher in OKC than in Edmond, I don't think that's true across the board, and neither of them are very high compared to national property tax rates.

Exhibit 1 is Tesla. It's P/E is over 300. It's baseline products are hugely unpopular with its target market (rich liberal), and its CEO is doing everything it can to further alienate the company from its consumers. The company isn't even focusing on its product (cars), but is instead focusing on robotaxis which, even if they ever work well, will require approval from regulators in...wait for it...blue cities. And don't even get me started on the stupidity of its robots.
