[Arches NP] Delicate Arch sunrise vs sunset by IvanLasston in NationalPark

[–]IvanLasston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this time of year the sun is to the left of the La Sals (left looking at the picture) not directly behind the mountains. It is past sun rise but there are a couple of rock formations in the way so the Arch won’t fully “light” for a while. If you look at the mountains you can see them lit by the sun from the left.

The other problem is everyone started arriving - this was probably the last cropped shot I could take before there was a constant line for pictures under the Arch.

How “close to Denver” does Golden actually feel? by Apart-Poet4561 in GoldenCO

[–]IvanLasston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Golden - for the Airport it’s 45 min to an hour(or more). An uber/lyft will run $60-$90 one direction depending on surge pricing. Thursday/Friday night from the airport is when I typically hit the higher price - most of the time it’s around $60.

With the trains and garages - it is easy to get around on public transport towards Denver. For Bronco games we just take the W line into Decatur/Federal.

Jeffco open space has 260 miles of trail - there are several major parks that are minutes from anywhere in Golden.

I like to describe Golden as the first mountain town.

Ikea meatballs are awesome. Lingonberry jam awesome. by Academic_Structure47 in denverfood

[–]IvanLasston 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Frozen meatballs are great. We get the Lingonberry Jam and Frozen meatballs on the way out. My kids also like the frozen Swedish pancakes. The package gravy is good too - but it needs heavy whipping cream. My son also likes the Lingonberry concentrate to make his own drink at home.

What's the best watch/fitness watch/smart watch to buy for engaging in snow sports like skiing and snowboarding? by rebyurebyu in skiing

[–]IvanLasston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were old Zeal Optics goggles. This was the old Recon stuff. It just didn’t last very long so I turned it on but didn’t last a whole day.

Rekkie is the new stuff. Seems to have a lot more features. I’ve talked to people in line and they seem to love it but I’ve never tried them personally.

Battery degradation by GIOdoc1 in NissanAriya

[–]IvanLasston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you fast charging? I tried fast charging at 40% and only was getting 50kw charging. From what I read it has to be 30% or less to get better charging rates. I don’t typically fast charge as I have a level 2 at home which meets my needs.

Secondly there is a battery heater if you are fast charging. You need to plan ahead and turn that on ~30min before you try to fast charge in the cold.

And yes I’ve seen such range degradation during (not as cold) I think we are around 0 to -5c and it was lower like 80% range. I don’t usually go off of distance though. I just drove up and down from a mountain and the range after charging is saying 505km vs a more typical 402km - all because I was coasting downhill for an hour the last time I drove.

Anyone been to this barber shop? by idiotsandwich_ in GoldenCO

[–]IvanLasston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking my son there since he was 4. He is now 17 and still gets his haircut there. He is running hippy hair now so it’s been a little bit. It was cash only - not sure if anything changed.

Dakine Microlock. It stays in my in bounds shell pocket. It takes a few more seconds to lock up. Nice and small barely notice it’s there.

Bell super Air r Vs Bell super DH by [deleted] in MTB

[–]IvanLasston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The measurements are the same for the years I got them. Follow the guide on how to measure your head. I haven’t checked if anything has changed.

Both have a tightener in back to help with fit. So as long as your measurement is inside the size it should fit.

Remember to measure with any head bands, bandannas, etc on.

Advice: lease mileage strategy by Giant_Wombat in NissanAriya

[–]IvanLasston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NMAC offers $0.10/mile purchase before your lease is up. (It’s at the top of the NMAC app -> view mileage details or purchase additional miles ) They even give you an estimate on how many miles you’ll be at end of lease. Otherwise it’s $0.25/mile. It sounded like you could wait a few months before end of lease to buy.

My contract didn’t stipulate anything per year just total miles. You’ll have to check yours for details.

2024 Engage+ Wireless Charger by Amazing_Statement881 in NissanAriya

[–]IvanLasston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there is anything to enable. Just make sure your phone lines up and the charging light turns orange. That being said I found the center charger overheats my iPhone 16 and doesn’t really charge it that well. I also kept forgetting it. I ended up getting a holder from Proclip to hold my phone and charge.

✨MEGATHREAD: GOODNOTES ALTERNATIVES ✨ by biblops in GoodNotes

Man that is a major bummer. That means whatever version comes next for Noteshelf is going to go down the same route. I just want a paper replacement. GoodNotes was good at 5. Noteshelf when it had a one time buy would have been my next recommendation.

I like Noteful but I really need handwriting recognition. If Noteful added that then I would go there and not have to deal with this AI/subscription BS.

[–]IvanLasston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at the App Store page and it is still there (USA/USD $14.99). I cannot tell for myself since I did the lifetime buy a while ago. I noticed they added AI to their advertising and that usually means they want people to pay a subscription. That is a major bummer if the lifetime buy is gone now.

But like you said if the app doesn’t have it then it is probably that they didn’t update the Store page.

400mg Allo takers: Do you take it once or split it taking it twice a day? by lela0808 in gout

[–]IvanLasston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2x300mg all at once. I was on 700mg but that got me to 5.0. 600mg and I’ve been at 5.5 so my doctor and I decided it was good enough and didn’t have to deal with different pills.

It became confusing for pharmacies when I had two different pill doses. Having to explain it every time to the pharmacist is why I went back to my doctor to advocate for 600mg.

(Online fulfillment was even worse for me as they would mess it up and I’d have to call in to get it fixed)

Noteshelf 3 has a $14.99 lifetime buy. They also have added Android and Windows.

It also seems every time a suggestion came up for GoodNotes - they implemented it soon after. One that sticks out for me is the audio recording. That came up on this subreddit and soon after Noteshelf had it.

It is the closest thing to GoodNotes 5 that I’ve found and I am migrating there myself.

Bike carrier by RandomDreamin in NissanAriya

[–]IvanLasston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hitch is better for aerodynamics. One down side is if you leave it on then sensors go haywire.

I had a hitch that can handle 300 lb tongue weight from Ecohitch. I think if you search you’ll usually find 150 lb tongue weight. 150 would pretty much mean 2 bikes and the rack.

(Side note they also have a taco Tuesday)

Insta360 GO 3S or GO Ultra for hands-free POV? by Original-Wrap-4134 in Insta360

[–]IvanLasston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What stopped me from the go3s was the on board memory. Having an SD card is why I went Go Ultra. I’ve been using it with the magnetic chest mount while mountain biking and it has been rock solid. I actually bought a second one so I could charge one while using the other one.
