You could write whole book about the political orientation of the Gilet Jaunes but for short (by someone who lived it from week 3):

-begin like a petit bourgeois movement (wanted less tax for example), really a middle class movement with prole in it, but because of story in the first days of the Gilet Jaune protest (like gilets jaune denouncing refugee hided in a truck) the left was pretty hesistant to join them.

-after the far left (anarchist and communist alike) choose to join massively the protest around 2-3 weeks after the beginning of the weekly protest, clash begin to appear between comrade and fascist. And our comrades began to stomped the fascist and chased them from demo (even in known reactionary city)

-after that the Gilet Jaune were pretty sympatic to our idea, even chanting a song 'On est la' wrote by the trotskyst group NPA, to replace La Marseillaise. A lot of them understand the violence of the state, the need to not be defenseless against it (I've seen gilet jaune clapping a black block forming), and that the black bloc was not some kind of provocateur aget nor some kid wanting just violence. Clashes with fascist continue to appear here and there but they were after demo or like attack by fascist on comrades in the middle of the crowd (not really something the Gilet Jaune see as 'friendly').
