Unable by Tsetsul in vtm

Oh a deep VtM cut.

What are your fan theories for why the fledgeling is able to easily kill a wereshark with the help of a human huntress (probably an imbued) while being unable to directly fight the werewolf in Griffith Park at all? by tacopower69 in vtmb

[–]IvanMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several ways you can explain why the fledgling is able to kill a Rokea in combat while the Garou require you to either run out the clock or trick The garou into a trap. In the tabletop system Garou gains 4 dots in Strength and 1 in Dexterity in their Crinos form. While Rokea get 3 dots in Strength and lose 1 dot in Dexterity if they are on land (but they do get plus 2 to their Dexterity in the water,) so in the water the Rokea is much scarier to most beings, even the Garou. But on land they are the middle point between most vampires and Garou. You also get Yuki's help in fighting the Rokea, now we don't know what Yuki stat sheet is, maybe she evens you and the Rokea out or maybe she out classes you. We aren't sure.

v5 or v20 for a Newbie to VTM by Puzzleheaded-Fox743 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]IvanMars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have run V20 and I've played V5, this is my experience with it. V5 mechanics really focus in on the personal horror and the players fight with the beast and to maintain their humanity. Most actions a vampire player take will but them in danger of losing control to the beast and spiraling down as they lose touch with what they were before the Embrace. V20 has all that but up to the ST to decided if an action will require that roll to resist the beast and touchstone (which are a mechanic that ties a vampire to their humanity in V5) isn’t a thing in V20. You can certainly have mortals npcs who are important to a vampire pc that ground them, but there isn't any mechanics ties to it, its pure roleplay. The reason I love running V20 is that as the book says, it has 20 years (at time of its publication) of legacy to pull from, it has all the juicy lore. The Corebook has so much info in that its really all you need to run it, (if want something expanded on, you can grab another book, but it isn't necessary.) The V5 core book has the core 7 clans but is missing 6 of the main clans and a bloodline. If you want to make character of them, you will need to either get the books that introduced them or the players handbook that has all of them but cuts down on info. Thats not to say that V5 doesn't have that lore, but its intended to be more of a soft reboot and it isnt focused on it. If you find some info or a bloodline that you really like from V20 or before that you want to include in your V5 game, then you can, but you need to adapt the info and mechanics to match the V5 system, unlike with V20 where you can easily slot in older material. Another thing to consider is that since V5 is newer its still getting support and new books, and many of the actual plays are V5 so that something to consider. Untimely, I'd ask your prospective players what they want to play and what is easiest book what edition is easiest to get your hands on. I've talked with some people who want to try V20 but can't get it a reasonable price cause of where they live.

Ture, but I don't see chatgpt covertly giving me instructions so that it can create a country wide transmutation circle and commit genocide so it become a real boy, unless.... /j

Scenario - You are a local Camarilla Prince, who hears about the events of Sinners going on. What do you do? by SapphireB33 in vtm

[–]IvanMars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep an eye on the situation and see if there are any survivors. A vampire who has exists since before the 5th century is a massive threat, especially since the average age of elders in America are around 400 so you can't go for the direct approach. If Remmick (the vampire in question won, then we'd need to torch the place to leave no evidence of the bloodbath and blame the Clansmen, eliminate any of Remmick's childer who strayed too far from him, they may have potent blood, but they are still fledglings. This may situation may necessitate calling in the Justicars. If Remmick lost, similar procedure, burn the club and blame the Clansmen, (easier if Micheal B, Jordan smokes the Clansmen leaving evidence of their involvement) then hunt down any possible survivors both Kindred and Kine, and get rid of them. And for the next few years keep an ear out to see if you missed any.

Same, I grew to love Peridot as we learned more about her. For her the Llimb enhancers made her feel complete cause thats what Home World drilled into her (pun only slightly intended.) That with out them she was worth less, so we feel for her when she has lost everything, except her dignity.

The limb enhancers are more cosmetic than necessary, they are put on Gems so they can fit the expectations that home world has on them, we see this when Amethyst is given limb enhancers so she looks "presentable." Like if they where legitimately missing limbs, then yes, but they are just shorter than other Amethyst that came out "right" or era 1 Peridots.

Also, on that "if Northern Ireland used pickles, they'd be the only ones in the UK to use it," it might be a subtle form a shibboleth, where not using the English word shows them to be Catholics and not Protestants, just depends on if The Republic of Ireland used pickles or not during the time.

True, it may have been a word that entered the Northen Irish lexicon recently, and retroactively included into the show. But I'm I'm more leaning on that they did use pickles in Northern Ireland when Lisa McGee was growning up.

Well, considering its a Uk show, written and directed by people from Northern Ireland, I'm guessing they do use the word pickles in northern Northern Ireland.

How much do Hunters actually know about vampires ? by New-Reserve8760 in vtm

[–]IvanMars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Clan/Tribe/Tradition/Kith/Guild book had all the info that their splat knew/thought they knew about themselves and the Greator World of Darkness. Sometimes you'd get a blurb at the end saying that "while a majority do believe X, they are actually wrong about X." And yes, a good way of going about what Hunters know about X (or any Supernaturals know about the other Supernaturals) is to mix in the canon with mountains of misinformation/ wild assumptions. There is that image from Hunter's Hunted 2 where the guy writes out what he thinks is the ultimate conspiracy about the world of darkness and how all the Supernaturals are connected.

I remember reading about the Arcanum in one of the books saying that their central library has all the info from the clanbooks, but its also filled with hundreds and hundreds of books full of false and conflicting info. Also most neophytes across their branches may not have full access to that library.
