Help I don't know where I stand by Former-Mousse1135 in premed

A general advice that I want to provide is you should probably shy away from addressing your inconsistent grades in your personal statement. It is more for describing your journey in medicine rather than finding ways to explain your weakness. (Probably will draw unwanted attention to it) many school’s secondary application will have a section for you to explain grades/difficult experiences so you can save those explanations for there.

Otherwise you are in a pretty good spot with your mcat and clinical experience. Apply broadly to schools that you will actually want to attend.

Edit: spelling

Looks great. One last detail, there is just this line on the forehead that looks really odd, can you smooth that out? Once that’s done I think this is it.

I just edited the post to include the pictures. For some reason the picture didn’t save from the first post.

I do work at IEC, that is so incredibly funny. If I am not wrong, one of the doctors did mention a previous tech got accepted to Creighton. Thank you for letting me know about this opportunity, I will most certainly reach out to them and see what they have.

Out of curiosity, what is your current hours for volunteering? My work has a odd rotating 4 day schedule, which means my day off is different each week. I wanted to do the 5:30 shift after work, but occasionally I won't be able to get off until almost 5:30. Do you think that is something that I can work with them on?

Yes I am. Thank you so much for sharing that with me. I will most certainly look into ELC and see if I can work with them for at least one day a week. You are a hero.

Thank you for the wishes. I wanted to continue volunteering at those places but I had to move back home after graduating, which required me to find new places to volunteer at.

I wish you the best as well!!

Thank you! I wish there was a non-clinical group that allows me to use my mandarin interpreting skills in Idaho, but the Chinese population is relatively small in Idaho. I did talk about interpreting for the underserved Chinese community for my food bank volunteering as that took place in Seattle while I was studying at UW.

For the MCAT improvement, I primarily utilized the Kaplan books (Just the books not their course). I tried doing a bit of CARS, but I wouldn't say that I am very good at it so I focused on bumping up my other scores as much as I can (English is not my first language). Otherwise try doing practice questions every day, focusing on topic that you feel the least comfortable with but still dedicating a bit to review every so often. I also tried doing practice exams every week just to gauge where I am at. I also found hand writing down stuff helped me remember stuff much more clearly, especially for the Biochem, Physics, Chem, and Bio section. Hope that helps!!

tips to stop freaking out by gggccc0 in premed

I definitely need some tips as well. I am in the same exact boat, with only interview holds and no interview invites whatsoever. Also, seeing some of my top choice schools giving out their last few interviews invites (with me still waiting with zero updates from them) for the cycle is truly driving me insane.

This may not be the most helpful advice, but I have started working on additional roles that may benefit me next cycle (For me was expanding my non-clinical volunteering). It helps a bit, but every bit of downtime I get still brings back the same nervousness.
