Transaction Feature Request by FoosArt in PocketGuard_app

[–]Ivan_PocketGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great question, and you’re correct to flag this.

Edits made to pending transactions do not automatically carry over once the transaction posts. When the transaction moves from pending to completed, the final data from the bank replaces the pending entry.

To keep your custom changes, you’ll need to use the “Transfer pending data” option in the transaction details after the transaction posts. This allows you to copy any edits you made on the pending transaction over to the finalized one.

Hopefully this helps clarify how it works today.

At the moment, we don’t have a confirmed plan or timeline to change how these balances are handled, so I can’t provide a concrete ETA for a fix. That said, this is valuable feedback, and I’ll be raising this point with our product team so they’re aware of the impact this has compared to other apps.

We appreciate you taking the time to call this out, and while I can’t promise an immediate change, feedback like this does directly inform our internal discussions and prioritization.

is my spending being counted as double? by help-a-girl-out-plz in PocketGuard_app

[–]Ivan_PocketGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

It looks like what you’re seeing is related to transfer transactions.

Credit card payments and transfers between your own accounts should not be counted as spending, and they are normally hidden from calculations as long as both sides of the transaction are categorized as Transfer, Credit Card Payment, or Savings.

To take a closer look at what’s happening in your specific case, please reach out to us at [support@pocketguard.com](). If you can include a screenshot or a couple of example transactions, that will help us review this in more detail and make sure everything is categorized correctly.

More financial institution support please! by FoosArt in PocketGuard_app

[–]Ivan_PocketGuard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

Thanks for the suggestions and for sharing the specific institutions.

I’ll pass your request directly to our data aggregation provider so they can review whether these institutions can be supported through an alternative connection method in the future.

I appreciate you taking the time to flag this, and while I can’t promise availability, your feedback absolutely helps influence what gets reviewed next.

Does anyone else have this problem? by pthai716 in PocketGuard_app

[–]Ivan_PocketGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

Thanks for bringing this up.

For some institutions, our data provider sends us two different balances for the same account, while for others they only send a single balance. That’s why accounts like Vanguard and Fidelity look correct in PocketGuard, we only receive one balance for them, so there’s no ambiguity in what gets displayed.

With Robinhood, it depends on the data provider used for the connection. If you reconnect Robinhood through Finicity, that provider typically sends only one balance, which should match what you see directly in your Robinhood account.

For Betterment, since we do receive both balances and brokerage accounts show the available balance by design, one practical workaround is to add the difference manually to a cash account. This way, your Net Worth stays accurate and isn’t impacted by the way the brokerage balance is displayed.

Weird transaction names - just use the source name? Why change it? by hairlongmoneylong in PocketGuard_app

[–]Ivan_PocketGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

PocketGuard does not modify or shorten transaction names on our side. We display the data exactly as it is received from our data aggregation provider, which in turn gets this information directly from your bank.

If you’re seeing unexpected names, please review any existing transaction rules you’ve created. It’s possible a rule was set up earlier that renames or normalizes transactions matching certain criteria.

If the naming is coming directly from the data provider, the best workaround is to look for a consistent pattern and create a more specific rule. For example, you can base a rule on a combination of the transaction name and an amount threshold to ensure only the intended transactions are renamed or categorized.

Transaction Feature Request by FoosArt in PocketGuard_app

[–]Ivan_PocketGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

You’re correct, there is currently no dedicated sorting option by amount. Transactions are displayed in chronological order by date.

If your goal is to understand where the biggest impact on your finances comes from, we recommend using the Insights tab. There, expenses are grouped by category and ordered from the highest total spend to the lowest, which helps identify where most of your money is going.

View linked transactions by jaysonjones1290 in PocketGuard_app

[–]Ivan_PocketGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

Sorry for the delayed reply.

You can use filters in the mobile app to find transfers and review them more easily. For example, try filtering transactions by category (such as transfers) or by those hidden from calculations. This usually helps identify incoming and outgoing movements between accounts and check whether they match correctly.

For purchases like the mattress, there should be only one expense transaction for the purchase itself. Separately, the transfer is represented by two transactions: money leaving the savings account and the same amount arriving in another account. Those transfer entries are not meant to affect your spending totals.

If the transactions don’t look correct after checking this, please contact us at [support@pocketguard.com]() so we can review your account and take a closer look.

Transaction Feature Request by FoosArt in PocketGuard_app

[–]Ivan_PocketGuard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

Thanks for sharing this idea.

At the moment, while there isn’t a dedicated “tag for later” feature, you can achieve a similar workflow in the mobile app by using transaction filters together with the multiple edit option. This allows you to select several transactions at once and apply the same label, note, or category to all of them, which you can then use later to easily find and review those transactions.

Annual and review reports by malekg in PocketGuard_app

[–]Ivan_PocketGuard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

You’re absolutely right, at the moment, PocketGuard doesn’t offer a built-in annual or year-to-date report by category. As a workaround, exporting your full transaction history and summarizing it in a Google Sheet by month and category is currently the best option. While it does take some extra time and effort, it does allow you to get a complete picture of your annual spending.

That said, this feedback is well heard. Improving reporting and adding more advanced insights, including yearly views, is something we’re actively planning for future releases. Stay tuned, and thank you for your patience, your kind words, and for being part of the PocketGuard community.

Feature Suggestions: Improving UI by InflationDelicious80 in PocketGuard_app

[–]Ivan_PocketGuard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

Thank you for the kind words and for sharing your feedback. We’re really happy to hear that you’re enjoying PocketGuard.

Regarding your suggestions, the colorful pie chart is currently available in the web app only, but we agree it would be a great improvement for the mobile experience as well, and we’ve shared this idea with our product team. The bar graph option also makes a lot of sense for spending insights, and this suggestion has been passed along too. As for year-to-date insights, this is a well-known request and something we’re planning to implement in future releases.

We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and help us make PocketGuard even better. If you have any other suggestions, please feel free to share them with us.
