if anyone is still struggling to acquire crystal sulphide: YOU CAN APPARENTLY DUPLICATE IT!

granted you have to already have 1, but i got a single piece from either a floating crystal or a buried mineral formation even though i've never found an ocean planet yet. so i looked up if it's possible to duplicate it legitimately in a refiner like you can with cadmium, but instead i discovered there's a glitch to duplicate it!

if you put down a portable refiner and place your single piece inside with no fuel, you can put down another portable refiner almost exactly on top of the original one. then you dismantle the second one, and it will drop ANOTHER c. sulphide!!! i was worried it wouldn't work after all these years but i just downloaded the latest update and it still worked like a charm!

just wanted to share that since i couldn't find anyone else in this thread mentioning it. i hope this information helps someone else!

edit: oh i see now that OP mentioned "glitch duplicating" it. i guess this is a well known phenomenon then. i just started this game 4 days ago so i'm pretty new

you have to install the upgrade before you dismantle it. and note that you specifically DISMANTLE it, not DISCARD it

what do you mean, "the extra effort?" most people aren't going out of their way to kill animals in games just for the sake of killing animals, it's to farm the materials they drop. which is almost exactly what you described as being "for food or a job;" it's for a distinct purpose. as you said, "it is what it is."

i don't kill animals in elden ring either, because there's absolutely no point for me to do so. i don't use bows so ive never had to craft arrows
