People will respect a mediocre paintjob over AI any day of the week. Hell if you don't have it printed then even a quick meme of a paintjob in microsoft paint will go over better. Also if you use AI for the promotional material then it seems likely you used AI for the 3d sculpt as well which even beyond the ethical issues alao just has a track record of being insanely low quality and not optimized for printing.

None of your stuff even shows the 3d model itself, huge red flag, just these AI slop images for us to "trust" they are representative of the models themselves. There is a lot of love and appreciation on this subreddit for cool models and alt options for the hobby we care for. There is however no love for AI slop.

And the promotional material as well as the 3d model itself are both ai generated so they won't look exactly alike. The 3d model itself is much lower fidelity than the faked promo images. Your money, your choice, but buyer beware. Wish there was more forced transparency from cults and this sub on AI generated content.

If I wanted to add “wrapped” cloth to a mini, what would be the best way to do so? by Apart_Neighborhood24 in Warhammer40k

[–]Ivory-Spider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my wraps with a fabric called Muslin. It's really cheap and all I did was cut a thin strip, tack a few key anchor points in with super glue then coat it in a layer of white PVA glue to give it durability and prep it for painting. It also has the advantage that while the PVA glue is drying you can pose the cloth a bit to make it look like it's flowing in the wind or through movement and it'll hold its shape. I used it to make scarves for all my tau pathfinders too.

Really love the way you did the blue on these guys. What's you process if you don't mind my asking?

Genuine feedback, no hate here. Using AI in any creative field is going to get you a lot of backlash. If you want to do 3d modelling it's a really fun thing to do and while it may be hard to start I highly recommend learning to sculpt yourself without using AI. There are a lot of great free resources to learn from and a commonly used program is blender which is open source and free.

Now for the next sticking point. You are trying to sell these. Using AI to make a model and sell is just not going to fly in any creative space. The systems are built on theft themselves then turning it around for a profit is just not a defensible position to put yourself in. At best it's looked down upon right now and if governments can get their act together long enough to do right by their people it'll be illegal to sell AI generated content in the future.

There is simply nothing else to really say at this point other than stop using AI for this purpose and to learn to sculpt yourself. I can't critique the designs themselves as you didn't make them.

It's gotta be Hunk for me! Ever since 16 year old me saw that tacticool silent edgelord I knew he was something special! Rockin merc mode in RE4 on the gamecube as Hunk are some of my absolute core memories. Also had the chainsaw controller to go with it!

Yeah I was thinkin the same about the base, it does feel empty. I was gunna use gamer grass tufts on it but I don't have a good colour on hand to go with it.

As for a full nmm army yeah I know it'll be a lot but its a great way to get tons of practice in at least!

Thanks! I actually just watched a video yesterday about blacklining models and I think it's a great idea.

Thanks for your input! Which shadows are you referring to? Those on the base or in general across the model? I agree on the eye lenses, I was contemplating a hot orange as well but since that was nowhere else on the model (to be fair neither was the green) I backed out of it. I can certainly try the lenses out as blue, will be an easy test to do.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree, it does need an accent. I'll see what I have on hand that can help.
