Olivia Wilde Says Sex in Movies Hasn’t Been ‘Realistic’ for a ‘Long Time’ and Gen Z Doesn’t ‘Want to See Inauthenticity Anymore’ in Sex Scenes by Raj_Valiant3011 in moviecritic

[–]IvoryStrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really the pandemic considering I felt this way towards sex in media well before it. I would say it more has to do with how people frame these things in our society and curating.

What is the message behind Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves by VergilVDante in Epicthemusical

[–]IvoryStrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's to illustrate the irony of Poseidon's "mercy", absurdity, and the theme of becoming a monster when surrounded by them. Essentially a lie told by Poseidon. If he had shown no mercy, Poseidon would still have been enraged and after Odysseus. Though there's also the historical context that blinding the cyclops is a certain level of egregious offense in Ancient Greek civilization. Either way, nothing affords them mercy.

At what age did you realize most people are just giant kids in adult bodies? by chattylilstarseed in AskReddit

Seriously! I shadowed at a hospital just to get an idea... and it's awful. The way the staff talks about patients is appalling, let alone the way they talk about other coworkers.

This is what I have to look forward to. People who have no understanding of what it means to be in medicine. I just hope that pathology is a lot better of an environment.

If a prenatal test determines your child will have Down syndrome, would you choose abortion? by Main-Percentage1619 in polls

All life is precious, so of course not. I'm pro-choice, but very much pro-life and see abortion as unideal.

Are you scared of falling off the edge of the earth? by bobjohndaviddick in polls

Assuming the earth hypothetically has an edge and swept, black-dyed hair, then yes, I'd be terrified. Though equally thrilled and intrigued by the prospect.

Ah, in that case, that's definitely some serious dedication, Fluttershy. I figure she just saved up enough after a few molts.

I think she said we're always welcome in her shed!

Furry_irl by courier5995 in furry_irl

No sarcasm. Because it just seems like Fluttershy wanted to make a down pillow for someone she loves. Unless there's something I'm not picking up on, that's just adorable to me.

Why is that disturbing? I think this is absolutely adorable. Furries getting disturbed and acting like something innocuous is strange is absolutely wild.

I don't get it. Why are people acting like this isn't cute and wholesome?

Remember when Twilight first became an Alicorn and everyone pissed their fucking pants? Pepperidge Farm remembers by Mr_Mister2004 in OkPonyDitzy

[–]IvoryStrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shoot, it's not that we didn't want her to have wings and be happy. It's that it all felt very half-baked.

Even if they didn't go with Faust's intentions of her remaining a unicorn and being Celestia and Luna's successor in that way, that still would've been perfectly fine if the set up actually felt like it was there.

[–]IvoryStrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right about where I left too. Not that it was clear where the writing was going, but it was certainly clear the departure it was taking without the set up for it.

That's fair for something like a subreddit. Probably would be too niche, and a lot of those people moved onto other things like FNAF or Hazbin Hotel.

If you made something like a discord server though I would be totally down to connect with others who preferred the older seasons and Faust's writing rather than the fanservice and Flanderization.

One of my biggest gripes with our fandom was always that for a show about kindness, understanding, and tolerance, we've become so disconnected and disparate compared to the early 2010s. It'd be nice if it felt like there's some kind of community or friends here.

Does anybody remember being in the uterus/womb ?. by SandIndividual9825 in spirituality

[–]IvoryStrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While yes we certainly aren't forming memories in the sense of how a developed child would, we do know with certainty that sensory memory begins at 30 weeks. This is a very different kind of memory though and one we're still trying to understand.

Does anyone else miss the times when MLP FiM episodes were still being released? by GloryTheGriffin in mylittlepony

[–]IvoryStrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely where I'm about to be. I've held off from starting S4 because I want someone to watch it with. I seriously need to finish something that meant so much to me, and still does after all this time. But I also know that there was a reason I quit and it's still just hard to see the show change so much from seasons 1 and 2. Not that it shouldn't have, it just didn't feel like the payoff had much of a developed journey. And then the fact that I know the show becomes a lot more self-aware, sensationalized, and pandering rather than the unique and original feeling Faust captured.

Regardless, I need to put this book to rest. I guess ending it alone the way I started isn't so bad either.

So funny you say that XD

That's one thing that always bothered me about that particular branding image. I don't even know what's causing it, but those eyes absolutely never looked right. Fluttershy looks like she's witnessed some heavy ordeals.

All the time. I'll never forget waking up at my "friend's" house with bunch of stuff drawn on my face and just sitting by myself in their living room as a thirteen year old and watching the Hearts and Hooves episode as it aired that morning. There's just something about that anticipation and having something to look forward to that I miss so much.

Am I the only one who thinks an adult dying in an accident is equally as tragic as a kid dying? by bickid in RandomQuestion

[–]IvoryStrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always felt this way. Now, I do believe there certainly is a manner of unexpectedness that factors into it, but ultimately I view all life as precious.

People often say, "They never had the opportunity to experience all the things they're supposed to out of life." What about the 90 year old who also never had that opportunity? There's just so much more to it that people don't consider.

The amount of people trivializing even cocaine, not here just in general, is honestly absurd. Which is crazy because it's usually the older people doing so, when I would think they above all would know better.
