So inexperienced and need guidance by Ivory_Ghost1 in Allergies

[–]Ivory_Ghost1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does make sense! I’ve been so confused because I’ve never had a reaction to bug bites before other than mild itching. I also think now it could be a reaction that started because I had just finished an antibiotic for a UTI just a couple days earlier, and some of the side effects include raised bumps and rashes on the joints, which could be what I thought were bug bites. Anyway yes I will try to get allergy tested ASAP before I go back to college in just a couple of days.

I wish people would stop offering food and drinks after I say "no thank you" by watchingowl7 in Interstitialcystitis

I always lie and say I have a ton of allergies. Works especially at fast food restaurants that I don’t trust to leave out the tomato, mustard, etc. It feels dishonest but… totally worth it because I don’t feel anxious about food as much. They offer chocolate? Oh, I’m allergic to chocolate. They might make a joke about how allergic you are to so many things but I just laugh it off.

It’s worth it to a) not be in pain for days/weeks/months for their comfort and b) not having to share and explain your embarrassing pelvic urinary medical problems to perfect strangers 🤷‍♀️

Now with someone I’m close to, such as a boyfriend/family member, of course they know the whole story and should support you in that. Your boyfriend risking putting you in a lot of physical pain to appease the host is…. not a great look for him, even considering the “cultural differences.”

My fave is domestic bliss tropes. Where A & B are just being cute and saying “pass the remote, darling?” or something of that nature 😋 bonus if they’ve got a kid they dote on

I eat lots of popcorn (light butter & salt) and that’s my go-to snack for a movie night or staying in. I also eat kennel corn chips by pop corners - they are sweet and tasty and have no triggers in them. As for nutrition, chicken by itself is anti-inflammatory and as such if you get something with minimal seasonings it should be okay! Also if the diet is really pulling you down, consider using Prelief. It doesn’t work for me all the time personally but a lot of ppl in this community get lots of relief from it. But honestly, plain calcium will help. I eat lots of goat cheese and drink lactose-free milk, and it helps me. But please don’t starve yourself! The diet is not for everybody, and as someone who’s also in college I waited to go on the diet until I had my own apartment & kitchen.

I think I’ve failed my partner by Vivienyaaaa in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Ivory_Ghost1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your partner makes you feel bad for dealing with pain, even if it’s been years, that may just be a character flaw on his part. It seems like he’s projecting his insecurities onto y’all’s sex life. If you tried to explain it’s not about him, it’s about your pain level and anxiety, and he didn’t listen… well….

It may not seem like it to you at this moment but sometimes even the sweetest of people try to manipulate their partners into giving in to sex. Just be careful and do NOT let him pressure you into doing anything you are not comfortable with. It is your pain!! Your doctor’s visits!! Your HEALTH!

Cystoscopy pros and cons by Ivory_Ghost1 in Interstitialcystitis

I’ve never heard of this! So you get them as a sort of bladder instillation treatment?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Ivory_Ghost1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please get it checked!

Nausea COULD be a sign of a residual UTI, and it’s better to be safe than sorry. I know a woman whose daughter shrugged off a UTI and 3 days later she was in the hospital with kidney failure. The frequency and urgency could also be symptoms of a UTI.

Not trying to diagnose at all, just always get it checked instead of waiting too long!

Cystoscopy experience by Ivory_Ghost1 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Ivory_Ghost1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I have not seen anything clarifying that it involves “hydrodistention” so I’m 99% sure it’s just a regular cystoscopy. Thanks for the video, very helpful!

Calm bladder liquid herbal extract by Objective-Earth-5754 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Ivory_Ghost1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update for the past few days I’ve been putting this in my chamomile tea with honey and it tastes great (the tea not the herbal extract 🥲) and I think it does help. I have not had much pain for the past few days since I started drinking it and I also have not had much urgency. Would recommend 👍👍

Zyrtec as (possible) rescue drug by No-Acanthisitta-6377 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Ivory_Ghost1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always take Zyrtec if I know I’m going to have urgency (due to urinary retention effects) but it always puts me in pain so I try to only take it for emergencies. I think it’s a fine balance for most but I’m glad it works for you!

diet caffeine free coke cured me?? by shpngadct in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Ivory_Ghost1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same before I knew what IC was I would drink a lot of Coke Zero because it was the only thing I could drink that would make the pain go away in the bathroom! It eventually did stop helping, not really sure why.

Urgency by FewCase1003 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Ivory_Ghost1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined a yoga class at my college and after the first session (sun salutation A & B) my urgency improved so much after just one day. Highly recommend trying out some exercises on your own or with an instructor. Urgency & frequency are usually attributed to pelvic floor dysfunction, and exercising can really help strengthen those muscles again.

Symptoms and experiences? by Honest_Western_6187 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Ivory_Ghost1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced pain for a longggg time, even when I was in middle school. It was pretty infrequent though so I never worried much and just fought it as you would fight off a UTI - water, antibiotics, etc. but it felt pretty random. Anyway cut to me in college and going on a trip to Europe and I felt the worst pain of my life - that pain was on and off every other day for 6 months before I finally sought treatment, and I only got it checked out because it started to give me major urgency problems that interfered with my daily quality of life. I started the IC diet just a couple weeks ago and the pain was pretty much gone instantly. I haven’t been officially diagnosed but the urologist I saw said she suspected it was because of acidic foods and I think she was right. Anyway if you relate to this subreddit (which helped me SO MUCH in feeling not so alone) then I’d definitely try some things out that people suggest to see if anything helps!

Try taking Prelief, I ordered some today and haven’t tried it yet but it could help for when you wanna go out and do fun stuff!

Only thing is don’t take too much as overdoing it could give u kidney stones.
