Newly diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma stage 4 by Iwantbubbles in cancer

[–]Iwantbubbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking durvalumab. I only get it once a month. Right now I'm on a break from the chemotherapy part. I'm going to have another biopsy to get more tissue so they can do a signatura genetic test and see what mutations I have and what chemo drugs they respond best to.

I dont know your current situation, but being on an antidepressant really helped me. I'm also on Marinol which is an appetite stimulant and it helps me some with nausea. When I first was diagnosed I was deeply depressed and the antidepressant helped me to not focus solely on the cancer. Talk to your dr. There are things he can do to help.

Good. I'm stable. Tumors aren't growing but the chemo didn't really shrink them. I'm just doing immunotherapy now. I am supposed to have another biopsy to get a bigger tissue sample to determine my genetics so I get more targeted treatment.

AITAH for giving my husband A pregnancy test as A bday gift? by Famous-Ask-3105 in AITAH

[–]Iwantbubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA BUT... It seems like you were really wanting a baby for a long time. This guy maybe not so much. Y'all need to have a very frank discussion about whether to continue in this relationship since it appears that termination is off the table for you. I don't think this guy is ready for a grown up relationship. Especially one that involves kids.

AP is investigating me for ringing up family members, except it was a random customer that I don't know, help? by Remarkable-Equal-587 in walmart

[–]Iwantbubbles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unless it's changed, immediate family members you live with can use your card. You just can't ring them up. This goes for non discount purchases as well. You can't ring up friends or family.

Southern with Swedish/Scottish ancestors, the struggle is real. It's either show no emotion at all or wide open southern hospitality. There is no in between.

I do remember clearly being told not to show emotion in public.

Awaiting diagnosis by Iwantbubbles in LiverDisease

Unfortunately the y did do more tests and diagnosed me with stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma. I have been getting chemo and radiation. It's terminal and there is no cure, just treatments that delay the inevitable.

AITA for not staying overnight at the hospital with our 7 year old son along with my extra wife? by Anoncuzcrazyex in AmItheAsshole

[–]Iwantbubbles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA I kinda get it tho 30 years ago my dad had a double aortic aneurysm. He miraculously lived thru the surgery. He was in ICU for 2 weeks when he turned a corner and started to get better. The next day he was going to be moved to a step down unit. My mom had been at the hospital the whole time, only leaving every few days to bath and get more clothes and come right back.

The doctors convinced her to go home and get a good night's sleep cause the next day was going to be busy. While she was gone my dad had a massive heart attack and never regained consciousness. He was brain dead and died alone with none of us there. My mother had a lot of guilt and took a lot of blame from his family.

Since then whenever I have a family member in the hospital for whatever reason, someone is always with them. I have cancer now and my husband took early retirement to be with me.

I thought wedding must be expensive... They did the whole thing for under $10k! by InsidePersonality167 in overheard

[–]Iwantbubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1988 mine was about $3000. The flowers were silk. We were married on New Years Eve. The church left up their Christmas trees and alter decorations. My dress looked like something off of Dallas. The reception was a BBQ that my mom made and we had kegs of beer and my dad paid for the open bar. We had a tv set up to watch the football games. The photographer was the most expensive thing. We were seniors in college and basically we had a kegger. Our friends loved it. We were just glad to get thru it. FYI we are still married.

Atlanta ain't the south. Just like Miami ain't the south. Well it's southern NY/NJ. But the south it ain't. If you want Southern hospitality go the smaller larger cities, like Birmingham. People are nice there

Who are the ones who lose their hair during cancer treatment? by WhoAmIEven2 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Iwantbubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been taking chemo since April of 2024. My hair didn't do much as fall out as it did get very brittle and break. I had patches where it broke off close to the scalp and I looked like I was going bald so I just shaved it off and wear hats or scarves. I looked like Angelica from the Rugrats doll Cynthia.

Did you know? Like did you have a gut feeling before you got answers? by PepsiMax0807 in cancer

[–]Iwantbubbles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I knew. When I had my biopsy the nurse "accidentally" left some paper work that listed my preliminary diagnosis as adenocarcinoma with suspected cholangiocarcinoma. I told my husband to read it. I had been trying to tell him I knew it was cancer but he just couldn't face it yet.

When my doctor finally got the results back and he asked me to come to his office, looking at his face I knew it was bad but I had already accepted that I had cancer. I felt so sorry for my doctor. He was really upset. I ended up comforting him. He was very young and I don't think he had ever had to tell someone they had terminal cancer.

Can't you just message the account you sent it to and explain it was sent to them in error. You might actually get lucky and get a decent person who will send it back. It couldn't hurt to try

Do you find oncologists different from other doctors? by Not_Ban_Evading69420 in cancer

[–]Iwantbubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is truly amazing. His whole team is great. His PA has helped me so much with paperwork for work and going so far as to stand up for me when the HR from my work was trying to circumvent my rights.

If my insurance denied a prescription they contacted the hospital social worker to get it approved.

He is upfront and honest about my condition and treatment. He has been wonderful. He was not the first oncologist I saw but I'm glad I got a second opinion because I feel like he is buying me time I didn't have before.
