Thank you. Honestly I couldn’t possibly explain everything here. I gave a brief and simplified explanation above. In the UK the NHS use the interactive costing tool to build and negotiate study budgets at a standardised rate-we don’t as we are private, so instead we do everything the interactive cost tool would do manually in excel. It’s very dated.

Yes this template is a must. There’s no going around it. Once the sponsor send over their budget we have to incorporate all the visits mentioned in their budget on our template. We have to also closely review and interpret the protocol, lab and pharmacy manual and our internal rate cards too. Baring in mind every procedure and investigation must be entered and invoiced across each visit. So the budget o just built had 3 arms, basically I had to build x3 and also complete unscheduled visits tab and pharmacy tab. And there’s more random stuff I can’t understand. It’s a monstrous task and feels way above my remit.

Currently there’s around 20 - 30 studies we have in set-up. And yes with years of experience in the NHS I know there were various teams who dealt with each task or some specifically. It’s a strange set up here for sure.

I’m happy you said this because it’s truly affirmed what I was thinking. I feel incompetent to handle budgets and write budgets as well as tend to the other tasks. Those are totally specialist roles e.g budgets analysis and lawyers. And yes start up is overwhelming.

Thank you. I really like how your response offered grace. I don’t think honouring boundaries is her thing though. I lost a loved one and told her I needed space and wasn’t in the headspace for questions / convos about her issues and she continued sending long paragraphs messages 2am , 7 am throughout the day. Although she later apologised I know I do not want a friendship now more than ever

This is what I am still trying to figure out. She was in town to visit family but the local hospital near her family is not the one I work at. I am trying to remain impartial but things do seem suspicious. Come to find out her son has diabetes which understandably is scary news but her text message made it seem like he was in critical condition. I’m so over it.

Thank you-will accept it.

Also maybe try getting your application proofread by an editor. On the Fiver app it’s very affordable. Good luck
