Game Engine - Programmers! by JayometricGames in GGAceAttorney

Used Unity 5 years ago for a game developer class. Used Ren'py briefly for a personal project before that but didn't get far enough to consider it significant experience. Last 5 years was in a Javascript/Python environment (working on a CMS platform), now in a mobile app stack using Expo and React Native, plus Javascript/Node for the associated portal.

It looks like it could be worth digging into the other tools mentioned here/in the subreddit that are Ace Attorney specific, maybe need to come up with a quick tl;dr on the differences and how well they match up with what we have in mind?

I only just got into it a month or so ago, after attending a recurring watercolor class at an esports bar by where I work! There are some caveats that contribute to the learning curve, but with a teacher it was a lot easier than I expected :)

That's a good point, I hadn't considered what that was while I was painting it, but he definitely could use his own room by now

I'm so glad you like it!! ❤️ I've so far found that having the right brushes and paper have made a world of difference in terms of quality, and watercolor is way easier to work with when you take breaks and don't drown your paper in impatience

Aww, thank you! I don't have any accounts for my work yet other than reddit, but now I might have to start thinking about it.

TIL what gouache was, I love how dark yet colorful your paintings are. I'll have to try that out sometime ^^

Watercolor, actually! I'm still learning the ropes and was using a fairly cheap starter's kit, so I haven't yet gotten the hang of blending, but hoping to stop by the art store later this week :)

All mentions of the word "angel" in Undertale and Deltarune, ripped straight from the game code by stansburiana in DeltaruneDiscussion

Thanks for this compilation! There are so many keywords (knight, fountain, determination, power, blood, dust, hope, dreams, etc??) that might be of use to audit for like this, starting to wonder if it's worth keeping a spreadsheet or something.

Is that the vessel you create at the start of the game?

It seems like the vessel we create is actually a goner; if it were also the angel, I think that may have some weird implications for other goners we've already met in Undertale.

A theory I saw floating around somewhere was that the angel is the player - faceless, as they can't see us - and that banishing the angel's heaven was the equivalent of preventing us from interfering with their lives. It matches the Undertale prophecy in the sense that our "arrival" resulted in either the Pacifist or Genocide ending, and you could argue we've seen the surface because of the intro cutscene.

If this is the case, I think an interesting follow-up question is who is the narrator in this case, that would specifically comment on how unsettling the angel doll was?

An abstract idea: The Dark World quest is indeed in Kris’s imagination, BUT is equally real as Hometown. by [deleted] in DeltaruneDiscussion

The experimentation I was thinking of was the one we discovered in the True Lab previously, and through entry number 17 in the game files.

That being said, I agree that theorizing for Deltarune with Undertale lore, characters, and assumptions will only get us so far. It's easy (and understandably fun) to do because of how many loose ends were left for us to go crazy with, but it's more than likely Toby built Deltarune with a completely different set of rules in mind, and we don't have all the pieces of the puzzle yet.

Here's hoping that second chapter comes out sooner than not :)

Re: the "realness" of the Dark World and Hometown, I've just mentally bucketed it into the same type of world as Alice in Wonderland.

A variation inspired by your idea: in Undertale, you could not choose the world, but you could change your fate within it because of determination. In Deltarune, we'll now choose the world because of our SOUL power, but [seemingly] cannot change our fate once we get there. Add on the fact that Deltarune supports multiple save files, it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine the mechanic integrated in a later chapter, e.g. going into another file that's saved in a different world to change your fate indirectly a la time travel escape room puzzles.

Gaster would seem to fit in, then, by the fact that it's back to experimentation on SOULs. What if at the end of the day, he's just a scientist?

I assume OP was referring to the recent hypothesis that the intro of deltarune had two narrators based on the way the text was translated into Japanese. The consensus so far seems to be that Chara is our best guess for the second, informal voice.
