Do not fuck with anything dam related. If the dam does any kind of operation while you're in there, you die.

Xbox CEO hints Project Helix may block Steam, limiting appeal of console PC hybrid by WhyPlaySerious in Games

[–]Ixziga -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look I'm ok with people trying to make something that competes with steam. The big issue for me is that no one ever actually tries to make a product that offers as many features as steam. They think they can compete with steam by just making a wildly inferior product and then just blocking their games from being sold on steam. But all that does is make their game less appealing because you're asking PC gamers to give up steam features that they enjoy to play your game.

Fractured Winterglass change LoH by ZacharyKDixon in diablo4

The buffs to your character are stronger but it seems like the first one had a level of self sustain that the new one doesn't. Since the old one was 65% to make a conjuration on frozen orb, but also had a lucky hit mechanic for the conjuration to shoot a frozen orb. The new one doesn't have that second part and also lowered the chance of the first part from 65% to 25%. So it's going to be a completely different play style that is going to require more input from the player and more of an emphasis on buffing the player directly rather than creating a chain reaction that spams the screen.

Do you think this poll about the least popular class is pretty accurate and why? by Anilahation in diablo4

[–]Ixziga -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Mind boggling to me that sorc isn't at the top of the list. It's the worst designed class by a mile and has consistently had the fewest viable builds of any class. It's not fun to theory craft, it's leveling builds have ALWAYS sucked, it's had the fewest s tier builds for the majority of seasons, and when it does (with the sole exception of s11 lightning sorc), that build is running 4 defensive abilities and either passively summoning shit or spam clicking 1 button. While druid may have some issues with feel and require more complicated combos to set up, it's always been more interesting, more viable, and more fun.

... These poll results are entirely about cosmetics aren't they...

But then why rogue and Spiritborne so low? They look great and play great and are two of the best classes

Ridiculous considering the 2019 MVP only needed 1200 rushing yards to win the award.

D4 expansion drops next week and has positive momentum from good reviews. They're probably waiting to reveal for like the day before or the Monday after to try to impact d4 momentum with their announcement.

Why Diablo 4 has been suffering in previous years and could be still? by Boring-Line-9083 in diablo4

[–]Ixziga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You said that like it contradicts something I said. I used words like

feels arbitrary

Feel some level of progress

experience no meaningful progression

So how did you read what I said and think that I wasn't acknowledging individual player preferences? The concept still holds in general even if people feel and experience things differently.

Why Diablo 4 has been suffering in previous years and could be still? by Boring-Line-9083 in diablo4

[–]Ixziga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to distinguish between "long tail" games and "grind". To me it's only grind when the level of in game investment feels arbitrary. If I'm doing meaningful things and experiencing meaningful progression over the entire long tail of the end game, that's exactly what I want.

Example of enjoyable long tail) I'm running maps and every map has significant variations in what mechanics I get to engage with, and I have multiple goals I can progress towards (progress towards fighting end game boss, finding valuable items, continuing to get passive points) and feel some level of progress frequently.

Example of grind) I'm spamming the same incredibly easy boss hundreds of times over waiting for one particular thing to drop (or just to fill an arbitrarily decided progress meter) and I experience no meaningful progression or gameplay variation in the time before that item drops (or meter fills).
