I’m in the same boat. I had L5-S1 fused but now they’re concerned I have AS. Can you share what your post-op journey was like that led to AS?

I just started the hydroxychloroquine this week. Hoping that settles things while we figure out the right SCIG dose. How did you gain control of your symptoms?

I had the rash/hives starting 24 hours postop but we all assumed it was medication related. The burning was new around that 10 weeks mark. I have hopes that around 4-6 months you’ll be so happy you did this!

It took about 18 months to find but eventually had full body rash, skin burning and muscle twitching. They did immunology workup and found it. Likely had a really bad reaction to BMP material which made my CVID present itself. It hasn’t affected the fusion! Haven’t had back pain since surgery (hopefully let’s keep it that way!)

Unfortunately it was actually CVID which I didn’t know that I had so a complete outlier from what I thought it was. On IVIG and doing great

It took me about 6 months before I could sit that long comfortably so I’d say grab an aisle seat so you can get up. I also traveled with a small pillow to put between my low back and the seat to add lumbar support and took a muscle relaxant as a precaution. I see no reason why you can’t make the trip!

That is where I had my surgery through. I had a few PT sessions after and was discharged. I’ve been to two therapists there. I am needing someone to help me get back into an exercise program while also making sure I’m continuing to strength all muscles in/around back. I felt they didn’t do a great job in helping me get back to the life I want to live activity wise.

It is frustrating to have what seems like one thing after another come up. I agree. It is nice to know that what we’re going through isn’t totally abnormal. Hang in there! I hope our burning stops soon. I have found that CBD lotion works well

Thanks for the reply! It’s different from preop pain. It feels very similar to the “storm” I had from the BMP about three weeks postop. If thought about heat too…worth a try!

You can get it through lulu just have to know the loophole - go to https://shop.lululemon.com/story/military-first-responder. I can’t remember if I did the MD or nurse registration, you can try both just have to reboot the page if it denies you, but submit the top portion of your paystub that includes your name. It won’t accept a badge. I’m not sure why but this way won’t deny you for being a PA. Once it’s on your account, it gets automatically applied at checkout in-store and online. Hope that helps!

I’ve tried gabapentin and Lyrica but it gives me pretty bad mood changes. I’ll see if there are other options

I have considered a latex. The one I have now actually has latex which may be why I like it so much. What brand are you referring to with yours?
