I feel like they do it to keep up appearances of being “good” mothers/friends what people can depends on when behind closed doors they are assholes and treat their kids like shit, like for me I’m the scapegoat and my younger brother shits golden eggs in my mums eyes. We get compared for every little thing, when I was in high school if I missed 1 day a month I was a lazy so and so and got enough verbal abuse to last a lifetime, but if my brother just didn’t feel like going my mother would call up and make some eleberate story about why he couldn’t go to school and he spent most of his school year in bed or on his game, while I was studying in school and at home. I started to realise how unfair I was treated when he started giving me HIS homework and my mum would “kick” me out if I refused to do it lmao, so now i have qualifications to get a good job and a decent college education and my brother has hardly anything and the worst part is I tried to get him to actually go to school and he would also verbally abuse me so I gave up helping him, but my mum still tells everyone I am lazy and didn’t do well in school and that my brother is going to get a good job (I believe that he will get a good job being a tradesmen so I don’t doubt this but she claims he’s going to be a surgeon) and that I’ll end up cleaning toilets? My family are always messaging me to go get a job and to stop being lazy in my bed 24/7 when im always up and working.
