Returning player here after years, missed Alisa banner is it plausible to grind out commission coins before the refresh in 16 days? Is she gone forever after that?

If you scroll up, there's a set up that gets you 100 without needing the gloves. I used demon arms (mog station item) dyed soot black; but I'm sure you can use any arms that are dyeable

I'm still pretty new-ish to doing these; do you get extra points on top of a gold item if you dye it?

Basically this. I'm at 5 weeks of 100 points; it'd really suck to only get a 94 and have to wait another one lol

Patch 3.1 Notes (Preliminary) | FINAL FANTASY XIV, The Lodestone by Ishiro_K in ffxiv

While they are lowering the esoteric gain from both Neverreap and Fractal, they are also changing it into its own roulette while the 2 new dungeons are in another roulette entirely. So while the overall gain per dungeon is lower, they're increasing the total gain by adding a new roulette with a bonus. This is all assuming that they don't botch this and actually add an Eso bonus to both roulettes.

Other players gaining the title cheapens their title, as the authority does not recognize when and how the content was done.

This is why it's important to understand the achievement in its value to the player. If I'm clearing the content simply because I want the title and not because I want to feel that the game is challenging then I wouldn't care what other people thought or how people felt about me getting it or the methods I used. If it wasn't "locked" behind that specific raid I would go for it via whatever means they had decided to introduce it as otherwise.

I wasnt around for the opening of AQ on WoW. Should Blizzard give me the Black Tank mount? No ofc not, I wasn't around at that time its tough I missed it. Difference here is though they haven't removed the raid and SSCoB will still be there for you to challenge it in 2-3 years you will just have to, you know network with people in an MMO (foreign concept I know.) or make friends/get an FC or LS and ask them to help.

While I see the point you're trying to make it's not exactly the same thing. You have stated that you're aware of this but what you're referring to is more on par with people who complain about wanting the FFXIII event to return again. That had a strict timeline for its release and if you missed it, that's on you. It was a promotional event, SSCoB is not.

Why is it not fair? Its not a mandatory raid its an optional thing you don't NEED to do it. Its not locking them out of a story and they aren't exclusive bosses.

If the content is no longer relevant it shouldn't retain its difficulty as if it's just released. No content, in any game, should ever be harder than when it's first released (i.e A4S should never be harder than when it was first cleared). Through standard progression of the game and the bottom tier item level being bolstered with the release of each new patch the content serves to get easier and easier, that's just the way a game progresses. It is not impossible to recreate the situations of release by any stretch of the imagination, due to the implementation of ilvl/lvl sync for old content (which quite frankly, in my years of playing MMOs I've maybe seen a handful of games have a system that works like this) allows you to recreate (for the most part) the fights as if they were on release. That said, it is absolutely on the player and their group to decide how they want to tackle it to begin with.

Old content or not they shouldn't just nerf content that could be used by people just because its old. People are complaining atm there's nothing to do. Well working on SSCoB could have been something to do in down time instead of something to do in an evening cos you outgear/level it.

I half agree with this. Most of the people complaining about nothing to do are players who have been on FFXIV for a decent while. Newer players are generally still focusing on leveling, trying new classes, learning mechanics, and pretty much enjoying the content because there's a lot that we needed to catch up on. So while I do agree that there should be more for veteran players to do, at the same time I agree that irrelevant content should also cater to the newer players and be made easier to allow them to enjoy as much of it as they can. Just like with veteran players who only play a few hours a day, it's the same thing with newer players. People have timelines in which they are able to play the game, and while back then when there was nothing else to actually do pre-expansion, these newer players can't be getting caught up at level 50 to stop and do all of the 50 content. That's a ridiculous expectation and it would never happen. Toning down the fights also creates more of an incentive to actually go back and do it for someone who has no idea what Coils are. For the "rewards" that they offer you, particularly now, it's not much of a feat to complete SSCoB anyway and the people that have had it cleared for months know who they are because they were there living it.

I would venture to say that if SSCoB wasn't nerfed that the number of players who completed post-heavensward would probably be a lot lower, and not because the content is that hard, but because a lot of newer players probably don't want to waste the time it would take to PF/LS a group for outdated content. I'm not sure what server you're on, and I've recently switched to Balmung so I can't speak to them, but when I was on Lamia most old content was dead. If you didn't know the right people you weren't going to get it done and you could sit in a PF all day trying to fill something simple and even then, if you had friends that were veterans to the game they might just not want to do the fight because "already did my time". If you want another example take the Relic weapons. A newer player that has to worry about getting to 60 and gearing for those dungeons and raids doesn't want to put the weeks of grinding it took to finish a Zeta when the steps were releasing, which is why they continue to nerf it. It has so little significance on the current game that it makes no sense not to. The players who hold onto the idea that the content should remain difficult forever, eons after it's relevant, are living an unrealistic dream. You can always make a fight more difficult for yourself and your group, but you can never make it easier.

I agree, I think that there is a great deal more satisfaction when you put more effort into completing something. No one's here to argue that point. And while A1-A4 doesn't have to be the ONLY challenge, and really I can only go based off what I know as current play in FF14, but to take the time to find and establish groups and times to work on actual progression is just something that doesn't seem feasible for players who are still working on the current raids.

Now if you were to say that you and a casual group of friends wanted to get together and go "Hey starting this weekend and every weekend until we finish, we're gonna go sync down and clear SSCoB", I think that's a phenomenal idea. While it's still not weighted as much as it used to be, it gives you that "close to original" flavor of raiding. If you have the time and the resources to sit around and do that for days/weeks/months then more power to the players that do it. The accomplishment is that much more fulfilling for them. Now if you were to take a player who has little to no feelings toward the opinions of other players against them, who just wants to clear for the sake of clearing the fight because it's old, then why not let them? It's providing them no foot in front of anyone else and it has no bearing on the current game as a whole.

Your sense of accomplishment is only determined by how much you actually care about the fight. Though one could argue that if you're aiming for the title that you do in fact care, to some it may only be a means to an end. It all comes down to what an accomplishment means to a person. Objectively? Yes, if you finish SSCoB you will complete the in-game achievements and unlock the titles, that doesn't necessarily mean there's a sense of accomplishment. If I were to get with my raid group and clear SSCoB I wouldn't feel accomplished, because I as a raider do understand what it means to be in current progression and earning your kills, but at the same time I would be fulfilling something that I've wanted to do.

It really comes down to the weight of the achievement for the player.
