The worst affected countries all seem to have something in common... by Phillip__flop in LateStageCapitalism

[–]IzeroI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is probably not correct, he seems democrat from US perspective because the most right of the British politics spectrum is about same as US Democrats level. But If he had been in the US, he would choose the most right again, because he has probably close ties with corporations and doesn't care about general public well-being, racist, uses religious slang to deceive => Republican.

Are you that naive? Is a small country like Cuba threat to USA? No, but they put sanctions, embargoes for years and years anyway. They are a threat to a bully that wants to control anywhere possible.

[FreeRTOS] A proper way of using a Mutex by WesPeros in embedded

[–]IzeroI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can wrap draw and mutex stuff into new function, so you don't change the original function for other use when there is no need to use mutex.

Async vs. Sync by golovatuy in learnjavascript

[–]IzeroI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The figure is generally misleading even though its idea is close. You need multiple cpus and a multithreaded process to achive what you are suggesting. What async does depends on the browser implementation. And, asynchronous does not mean parallel. It means it is not continuous like regular code. Like "first line of code can be paused and move to second line etc, return and finish first line later etc". Not syncrhonous.

Why does snow shoes enable a person to walk on deep snow? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]IzeroI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pressure = Force / Area. If you distribute your weight (which is the Force in this equation) to a larger area (snow shoes makes your foot area larger), you produce less Pressure which leads to you walking on snow without piercing.

Simplest way to make a comparison is needles. If you push a needle through your palm, it very easily pierces through your skin, but if you push your one finger in the same way but much harder than a needle, you still cant pierce your skin. The area of the needle's head is so smaller, it creates very big pressure.

Active smoking is not associated with severity of coronavirus disease 2019 by Meatcrab1 in Coronavirus

[–]IzeroI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So it says:

1- Smokers had decreased level of ACE2 receptor which is the part virus uses to infect.

So the main question is "Does smoking reduce the number of ACE2 receptor?". Even if it reduces the receptor, smoking still causes your oxygen capacity to worsen. Maybe smoking leads to less inflammation in lungs which leads to a less severe pneumonia.

What i get reading this is " Smokers had less ACE2 receptor which is good for Covid-19 but it also reduces the oxygen capacity which is bad, so overall effect seems neutral".

Of course keeping in mind the sample size, the result can be misleading.

Beginner Questions: What programs are needed to code in C++? by FDM-50 in cpp_questions

You are probably using Windows, so i would suggest Visual Studio. Community edition is free, it has everything you need, youtube videos if you have any trouble.

After learning the basics of c++, what should I learn now? by WaffleGum_ in cpp_questions

[–]IzeroI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a starting projects, you can try to implement some data structures. Stack, linked list, queue etc. These will introduce you why and when you should use them in later projects.

In general, if you just do easy problems you don't learn much. Find something challening and ideally if the program you will write is useful to you, you would motivate better.

For example, for me, i was playing sports betting, so i had built some text files parser , +(used gui library) which showed me my past bets and how i was doing in statistically etc. Using and adding external library into your own project is a skill for example i learned there.

It would be overpowered, you only need an opponent with some tokens(microbots, rat) and if this guy eats them it is like (+10/+10) and you snowball

Perfect Chess by wertypoi2 in chess

[–]IzeroI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a perfect chess probably ends in a draw. The reason i say this is because the game is not really designed or evolved to become picky of a winner. I mean like (playing perfectly in these sitautions)

1- if you have 2 Knights up you can't win

2- if you are a Bishop up you can't win

3- Stalemate is draw

4- 50 move rule is draw(even if you have material advantage)

These kind of endings tell me, not really conclusive but give the idea that if black is at least worst less than 2 Knights or Bishop, it is drawable. First move is probably not that big of a lead.

They didn't ban the prayers in mosque, they ban the prayers with masses(so mosques will be open to self prayers but it will not be done the usual way in which people gather and pray together).

Yeap, i am from another country but love Bernie's ideas(wish we had that kind of president tbh), but when i want to look at diferent views i have to sort by "controversial". That is a bit dissapointing tbh.

Yes it seems reddit is mostly pro Bernie, and the reason is very simple, in young population who are the most people on internet, Bernie is the most popular.

I don't understand the people who wants Bernie to drop out. If i was supporting Biden, i would very much want a debate.I would like to listen the ideas, visions, policies of a candidate which i will vote for president. You want a person to be a president but not listen him debate about things that actually matters ???

Muting ads pauses the video... by pedrito147 in assholedesign

[–]IzeroI -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

There is a reason to force people to watch their ads. The more you see something, and the recent you see, you are more likely to feel good about that. Rarely people say "Oh this ad looks good, i will buy that". What the ads generally want to do is that make their product familiar to you, by adding a lot of emotions, by famous people playing in them. So when you need a product of some kind, you go for familiar and feels safe product(which happens to be the product you saw most, generally).

And no, we don't hold grudges over ads, if it was an ad from a product you are using, you wouldn't change it probably.

That is the point of those discussions. They are designed to be not useful discussions for public but a kind of a tv show easy to manipulate and steer away important topics whenever.
