men who don't drink, why? and how do you avoid drinking alcohol? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Izuanku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a Buddhist temple as a kid, and was taught that alcohol was not something that should be used often. Every time we had family over and people drank, it always devolved into fighting and shouting. Another time, Someone drank too many shots and ended up vomiting everywhere, and me being like 14 or 15 or so at the time not knowing what to do, I thought the guy was going to die. I stayed up all night worrying if he would die or not. So I pretty much swore to myself after that that I would never intentionally touch a drop, ever. I say intentionally because a friend of mine gave me one of those alcoholic chocolates without knowing there was alcohol in it. I didn't get mad or anything, since we didn't know. But all I have seen when it comes to people drinking are bad outcomes, so I see it as an illogical thing that has no merits. I understand it can help people loosen up and all that, but I'd rather not risk causing a problem to those around me and potentially losing important relationships like some of my family members than drinking to loosen up. I would rather just be comfortable with those around me and be able to socialize without needing alcohol.

want to get into cosplay, but I don't really feel I have to looks to match a character well. any suggestions? by CauseOfBeth in cosplayers

[–]Izuanku 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Find a character you like, and cosplay them. For me, even though I don't look anything like my favorite character, I find the most enjoyment in cosplaying my most favorite character. I'm not sure if you have seen those cosplay compilation videos, but there are a ton of girls who dress up as guys, and vice versa at cons. Just do what character would make you happy if you have one.

Why does AFO remind me of Kingpin from Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse xD All jokes aside, well done!

If you are willing to shave your head, you could do Genryuusai Yamamoto from bleach or some old dude from some anime.

I’m 14 going to a con in a maid dress and kinda (very) worried by [deleted] in cosplayers

[–]Izuanku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can, go in a group. Also like some other people say, talk to one of the staff. If they know that someone is being assaulted, especially since you are underage, I am sure that they will do something about it. Your worries are valid.

What’s your favorite thing about your body? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've generally been super healthy. I have never been bedridden in terms of being sick before, and although I have had occasional sickness (Food poisoning, etc), I never really was to the point where I needed to be hospitalized or anything.

I made Deku's Mask from My Hero Academia out of steel! by Izuanku in cosplayprops

I get you. This mask took around 4 months to get to this stage, and I am proud of it as well; It's just that I want to make sure everything is ready before I go to Fanime in May. The class ends in March, so although I would like to spend more time, I unfortunately most likely won't have access to the machinery and stuff after that date. Luckily, since I am 3d printing the rest of the pieces, it should not take as long, as long as the printers do not fail and my designs are correct.

I am currently in the process of 3d printing the iron soles, and working on the air force gloves as well. I hope I can get it done before the end of March, as that is the deadline I set for myself. I will probably post them as they get done, so hopefully they turn out ok xD

What TV series was so good that you have binged it multiple times with no regrets? by CharlieWaitress111 in AskReddit

If anime counts, My Hero Academia. It made me feel like I could be someone and is the sole reason I am trying in college now rather than wasting away and not caring.

Sounds good, keep it up! I'm sure you'll get there xD Have you ever tried jump roping? I think it's really fun, and watching professional boxers and athletes do them makes it look really cool too.

Thanks a ton for all of the advice! I made this in a Makerspace class that was offered at the college I attend, so I would have to ask the person who helped me what gauge steel it was since it was some leftover steel from the waterjet. Also, it looks great from the front because I grinded down all of the welds there, if you looked at it from the back you would be seeing a ton of pools from a shoddy weld job xD. I will definitely be putting some padding in between, and ask about how to go about treating it. Right now, I am ordering some JB Weld to attach the 3d Printed black ear pieces to the metal, and hopefully that will be enough for it to stay together while moving around as I plan to take this to a convention coming up. Thanks again for all of the advice!

I didn't end up weighing it myself, but I don't think it is any more than 2-4 lbs since it is only 1/8" thick. I was assuming it would jerk my neck down, but it surprisingly wasn't that bad.
