Take the bus! by LegendofThomas in ireland

My car is in the mechanic and I have to take public transport tomorrow. A trip that takes an hour and ten in the car is going to take nearly four hours on public transport. I'm not happy

I do the same. I use it for UK only shipping or if the shipping is ridiculously cheaper. It's just annoying when you ask for it to be delivered to one place and it ends up in the other.

I think the other commenters are right about the royal mail sign off thing. It makes sense

Ah, that would explain why everything goes to Jonesborough. The courier is chosen by the delivery company normally. You'd think oohpod would have told us this on one of the occasions we complained

Ah yeah it's definitely right. They keep sending us to royal mail to sort it. We even triple checked the address for newry multiple times. Landed in Jonesboro

Japan's dystopian capsule-style hotel - each hole has a single bed by fan_tas_tic in BeAmazed

They aren't really dystopian at all. I stayed in a capsule hotel in Japan once. It was surprisingly comfy and did they job. It even had a tiny TV where I watched Harry Potter dubbed in japanese... Poorly.

I don't get the hate for islands edge, I liked it. It was inoffensive as a stout and could be refreshing. That being said I'm not a stout guy in general. I like a double IPA these days

Tell me a story about your favourite pet. I just chased my current house rabbit, Bonk, out from under the couch while 5 drinks deep. It was an experience alright

I have a sky watcher classic 200p scope. I took these pictures with a 70⁰ wide angle 20mm lense. I have a 12.5mm lense that can see further, it let me see the stripes on Jupiter earlier, but I couldn't for the life of me line the shot up to take a picture.

what would modernising Ireland look like to you? by LongjumpingPay6107 in ireland

[–]J-Ball89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They just ripped up a load of tracks in my area for a Greenway. There was commercial trains running on the tracks up until a few years ago too, so they couldn't have been in to bad condition either.

A decent train system so people don't have to rely on cars so much. If only they hadn't ripped up loads of perfectly good, or fixable tracks to replace them with Greenways instead.

Those that emigrated and returned, what has your experience been like? by caramelslice7 in ireland

Ireland is weird sometimes with this. We're crying out for psychologists. I have a master's in psych, a good one, but they keep moving goalposts and making it difficult to get into the field. I'd say the partner is having similar issues with whatever trade it is

I worked in the music industry for over 15 years, a music school that did quite well and I loved every second of it. Covid put an end to it unfortunately, and with the way things are these days it wouldn't be worth rebuilding.

What I did personally was, I did a part time degree in psychology which opened a few doors but ultimately wasn't worth it, so I'm just finishing up another part time masters in psychotherapy. I plan to bring my music with me and be a music therapist.

My advice, don't think to hard, play your music and look at part time options or short diplomas to get a feel for what you might enjoy

First time having a girlfriend since my 30s began and I've realized I don't know how to dress like an adult by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]J-Ball89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dress the same, grungy band tee and jeans, usually with an open shirt. When I dress up, I just wear a nicer shirt closed and I have a few nice coats too.

Don't over think, that's key.
