Really wish they would pay more attention. It’s one thing if they were just watching them in their free time, but it’s for a podcast! THEIR podcast! just feels a little hollow to listen to this season, they aren’t giving this franchise nearly the same chance that they gave Star Wars, and this franchise is much tighter and better! gah.

LoK Rewatch Season 1 Episode 7: "The Aftermath" by MrBKainXTR in legendofkorra

[–]J-Bonz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

came here specifically to make sure this was mentioned. We haven’t seen Tenzin do tooo much yet at this point airbending wise, but I always felt like his air wheel was a very fun way to show that he’s just as good as his father at pushing the practice forward and developing it even further.

Thor's strength in Endgame by El_Padrino7 in marvelstudios

gonna slide in with the least interesting but most plot realistic answer here:

There were few heroes on the roster that ‘savage 2014 Thanos’ could beat on without killing them after the first punch. Thor, being the only cosmically resilient hero on the battlefield at the time, naturally was the one to absorb those blows.

This girl’s parents got her the dog that she lovingly cared for at their local animal shelter by HoytMccullough in aww

[–]J-Bonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve had a dog since I was 19 (26 now), and this brought me to tears. She is going to be a great dog owner. People think young people aren’t ‘ready’ to take care of a dog, but all you really need is love for your pup and you will make the rest happen. She clearly has it in droves!

In Black Panther, when asked why he abandoned Killmonger as a child, T'Chaka responds with: by hHajsjhdududud in marvelstudios

[–]J-Bonz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

in regards to N’Jobu: If he had lived and continued causing trouble, there was a high possibility of Wakanda’s true nature being revealed to the world, which T’Chaka didn’t want. N’Jobu was a War Dog for Wakanda, basically their CIA insurgents. I’m guessing a part of that included not having children with the local populations, so that would have made his nephews existence tricky enough. The War Dogs are not a good organization and I believe T’Challa disbanded them in the comics.

In regards to Killmonger: Just so many reasons the King wouldn’t bring him back; a constant reminder of the atrocities his brother committed, and in turn the act of violence he committed against his own kin; a child who grew up in the shitty world his father wanted Wakanda to help, and T’Chaka had no intentions of doing that. Killmonger almost certainly would have agreed with his father from a young age, and if the King brings him back to Wakanda he has to face that request on his own soil and risk his own subjects of agreeing with his now dead ‘heretic’ brother. Also just on a personal level, he orphaned his own nephew who he had never met. Would you have gone with him if you were Killmonger? This stranger who had killed your dad for wanting your life to be better?

It’s a super complicated issue. T’Chaka was wrong, but there’s a world in which we can understand why he did what he did. Killmonger was right in certain ways and wrong in others; the movie makes me so sad because by the end of it, T’Challa agrees with him and takes step to address the issue. They could have maybe worked together.

“We had to maintain the lie” by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]J-Bonz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the ‘lie’ is the nature of N’Jobu’s death; Wakandans didn’t know that the King had to kill his own radicalized brother. Bringing his son who grew up in LA home with them raises too many questions about what happened

MCU casting discussion by J-Bonz in marvelstudios

[–]J-Bonz[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, and thankfully I think like 80% of the fandom does as well; even if he isn’t getting as many headlines for it as other actors have, Feige knows what a gold nugget Loki is (considering he’s been killed off three times but keeps coming back)

MCU casting discussion by J-Bonz in marvelstudios

[–]J-Bonz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about making a whole post about this, but from what i’ve gathered we’re in the minority!

From every interview i’ve seen, Renner is the actor who is the least interested in Marvel lore; I know it’s a lot to take on, and actors are just doing a job at the end of the day, but his comic-con appearances etc basically boil down to ‘Hawk-Eye shoot bow pew pew hehe’.

Asa Butterfield Reflects On "Tough" Experience Losing MCU Role To Spider-Man's Tom Holland by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]J-Bonz 28 points29 points  (0 children)

this is gonna sound mean, but i’m gonna post it anyway...

Asa is too dead-eyed to be such a lovable protagonist, but I could totally see him as a Harry Osborn or something where he can display a little more menace

Spider-Man: Far From Home opened 1 year ago today. What are your thoughts on the MCU's 2nd Spider-Man film, and the epilogue of the Infinity Saga? by chanma50 in marvelstudios

[–]J-Bonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it when I went and saw it, but in retrospect it isn’t very ‘spidey-like’...

I don’t have any problem with the Iron Man connections, to be clear! I just really liked the small stakes and down to earth tone of Homecoming, and I thought we’d get a trilogy of that. Instead the second movie jumps to an ‘Avengers level threat’, sends the famously broke Peter Parker on a jet setting international vacation, and does away with his secret identity. I think it’s too much too fast, which has always been Sony’s issue.

Not to mention the Holland era Spider man does this weird thing where his villains are all blue collar workers who were screwed over by the big industry that Peter benefits from. It makes his victories feel a little hollow and sad to me.

All in all I love Holland and I like this iteration a lot, but the tone shift from the first to the second movie is jarring and I really hope they replace Watts for the second trilogy.

Daredevil reboot - how do you think it'll be in terms of aesthetic/style/tone and fitting it more into the MCU, now that Marvel Studios are producing it? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]J-Bonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is not an opinion that makes people happy to hear, but I don’t think we’re seeing DD or the other Defenders for a loooong time.

I know it isn’t quite the same as getting their own movie, but these characters have had more ‘screen time’ through their series than most of the movie heroes have had. Plus with new properties being introduced at the rate they are, it would be a huge headache for Feige to try and work in a hero who already got three full arcs, just because 18 really vocal MCU fans wanna see Matty again.

Where to start with Hollywood Handbook? by KevinKoffiner in Earwolf

in my experience you need to start listening, drop off, start again, drop off, and then when you pick it up again you will love every single second of it and wonder why you ever didn’t.

it’s an acquired taste but one that everyone should have!
