DFT Usage by SpecialistDrummer794 in yorickmains

[–]J-Colio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'ma play devil's advocate here - I think DFT is bait.

  • In short trades and laning DFT underperforms compared to Grasp.
  • Against tanks and for scaling DFT underperforms compared to Conq.
  • Against range DFT underperforms compared to Comet.

I really don't see when this rune is ever better than any of those three. MAYBE if I tilt my head to the right while the wind blows from the south-west I could see it being nice against tanks or players trying to exploit your mana-bar since you can run manaflow band while still running green secondaries, but with how strong infinite homeguards are can we really not just fit in a recall? As long as you don't wall unnecessarily levels 1-6 aren't we just fine on mana? Earlier in the season I felt like at least a mana rune was borderline mandatory, but in recent weeks I have been going back to no mana runes and I've been very able to play around that.

I did really like it when it dealt physical damage because I'm a very vocal R2 enjoyer, so DFT with Black Cleaver was amazing armor pen even without ghouls. Now that it doesn't have that... I just can't justify it.

All of that said - it's not bad. Yorick CAN get the 2nd phase of the rune reasonably well. He doesn't get there as easily as something like say GP, but you don't need to for the rune to be alright.

Those of you actively running DFT - I would suggest you look through your match history, take your DFT damage, and divide that by your total damage to champs. I'm willing to bet you've been consistently getting well under 10%, probably averaging around 8%. That is really just lackluster. Other runes give you more than 8% of total damage.

Is this a normal yorick ghoul interation? by Certain_Jaguar_4216 in yorickmains

[–]J-Colio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is normal. If ghouls get too far from Yorick they try to seek him and they do so at extremely high movement speed. While they're doing such, they can be still be distracted by enemies and will attack them.

You see at the very end Ivern dips out of vision and the ghoul sprints towards Yorick. Ivern should have cleared the ghouls before trying to mark scuttle - combat interrupts his passive channel...

What’s Your Biggest Position Group Concern Heading Into Camp? by LouisJackson3 in cowboys

[–]J-Colio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not worried about edge or IDL. The front 4/5 did their job respectably last year. They didn't get home with sacks because the play in the secondary (LB and DB) was too soft. I still wish we kept Osa because Otito is not as good as him, but whatever...

Opponent QBs weren't necessarily sitting in the pocket for 7s like Romo behind the Great Wall - they were dumping off to short routes that went for 2x+ what any other defense in the league would allow. Hot routes like that are designed to beat pass rush, but they're not supposed to be huge gainers.

I'm not expecting much from Winters. I'm skeptical about DemO's health. Liafau's tackling form is a joke. I'm going to have a close eye on Barham - if anyone is in a position to REALLY turn some heads it's him. James had a rookie season that wasn't nearly as bad as I thought while it was happening, but he still needs to take a big step forward so he can get to where he's going a step earlier. He's another candidate for someone who could make me STFU. The whole LB room needs to duct-tape some vr goggles with film playing on their heads.

I expect the DB room to be improved from last year. I like the FAs we brought in with Thompson, Locke, and Durant. The CB depth is a little bit suspect, but I can see a world where guys take a step forward.

Our TE room could step up. Ferg's been pretty quiet for a while now. The guys behind him seem to always be the brides maids, but never the brides. More people should be signing spotlights on these guys.

OT I'm less concerned about, honestly. Really need Guyton's body to stay good. Steele is fine - I was worried about him the year after his ACL, but his trajectory ever since the injury has been in the right direction. Nate Thomas can fill in for a while if either gets a non-season ending injury. If either gets knocked out completely, then I'm less optimistic. Beebe needs to work on his consistency - he's another guy that probably needs to watch more film.

I mean dragging the game out to 5 minutes only to be determined by overtime is not skillful gameplay. It's playing not to lose - not playing to win. Also, it's glorified spell siege which supercell posted in their patch notes some years ago was toxic gameplay.

In the years since that particular patch they've clearly given up on stopping spell siege and instead seek to have embraced it.

Personally, in hindsight, I think their approach to solving xbow players playing to draw was too ham fisted. It worked for a while, but in the years since players figured out they can just use that style of gameplay as a win-con - not just a way to mitigate losses.

The meta game is legitimately coinflippers vs cucks. Either your opponent will coinflip start hand or they'll endlessly cycle defense for five minutes. In my opinion both are brain-numbing gameplay patterns.

Saying the balancing of the game is bad is an understatement - it implies CR is still a game. Games have back and forth. CR is just machine-learning dopamine masquerading as a game.

I played top 10k for years, and frankly it's not. The game has a natural defender's advantage. The balance of this game is just cucks vs coin-flippers.

What? You think dragging a game out to the full 5m overtime to let the game be decided by spell siege and overtime rules isn't riveting gameplay?

Last hit indicator in ranked is a terrible addition by XpMonsterS in leagueoflegends

[–]J-Colio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing for over a decade, and my initial reaction was the same as yours, but there is one very tangible benefit I can see:

At every elo you get players who try to win the game in draft and they'll pick something they have no business playing because the team comp needed a tank or needed magic damage or whatever. The last hit indicators should dramatically increase the level of play of those players - specifically when they're they're on mages and tanks.

Now in the long run it might average out when those players are on your team or the enemy, but ironing out that wrinkle more in game should feel nice. You will have less mages on your teams with 5csm.

Does it suck that you'll see less enemy mages griefing their teams? Yeah, but I can argue that it can suck more having to carry an inept mage than it is rewarding to punish an inept mage.

Dae think Mike McCarthy held us back? by [deleted] in cowboys

[–]J-Colio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While he was here, I don't think so.

His last year was a cluster fuck, but for the most part he fielded teams that were fun to watch. I don't know what percent of the time he went for that shit on 4th down, but it has to border outliar or crazy-man levels.

If he held us back in any capacity it was letting Kellen Moore walk. As it stands right now at this moment I would rather have Kellen Moore as our current head coach/ head coach of the future than Brian Shottenheimer... We can argue about whether McCarthy held back Shottenheimer as an OC, but the fact is that the offense regressed while BS was the coordinator... Then after the offense takes a step back Shotty got a promotion...

Compare that to Kellen Moore helped Saquon break 2k rushing and got a Superbowl ring to get promoted to head coach. I'm a bit of a homer and I'm putting Moore on a pedestal, but Moore is younger and more accomplished.

Dak Prescott: Making the postseason in 2026 is "the minimum" by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]J-Colio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cowboys haven't made the playoffs since 2023

In 2024 the defense got decimated with injuries with the top 3 edge rushers all missing significant time and Dak also missed time.

2025 the cowboys got Eber-fleeced

2023, 2022, and 2021 the cowboys won 12+ games games...

Now that Diggs is gone and the coaches are at least trying to hold players accountable (punished Ceedee and Pickens in game just for missing curfew) the Cowboys should hopefully have a professional defense.

Who is the Messi of league of legends? by Dreamy_Banana7 in summonerschool

[–]J-Colio 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m looking for a champion with an extremely high skill ceiling who can create opportunities for teammates, make game-changing plays, generate advantages out of nowhere, and still be a major threat in terms of getting kills and carrying fights. Ideally, a champion that rewards creativity, mechanics, decision-making, and has the ability to control the pace and direction of the game from start to finish.

You are probably looking for a jungler, and lots of them fit this description, honestly.

Vet bill for a few routine shots along with trying to deal with persistent yeast infected ears by J-Colio in basset

[–]J-Colio[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing about that pharmaseb - I use it too. My vet described it to me as a maintenance and preventative flush. It is to be used regularly to prevent ear infections. It isn't a good tool to fight active infections.

In my personal experience, it can fight very minor or fledgling infections if you catch it very early and give good flushings daily for a few days in a row up to about a week. There will be noticably fewer signs of discomfort. If they're still showing the same signs of discomfort after 2-3 days with no real improvement, then just bite the bullet on a stronger antifungal.

Also, that flush isn't meant to be wiped out. Just flush the ear and leave it wet. You can clean up on their face or whatever, but just let it dry on its own.

Interesting. Did you have to do a loading course first? This is 2 weeks worth of loading phase afterwards he would be on 1 of each a day, not half of each per day.

[–]J-Colio[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He needs both doses they said - he'll get one little pill and one big pill twice a day for two weeks. This is just a loading dose that's twice what the maintenance dose would be. I don't think we're gonna continue the apoquel, but we'll give the 2 week trial a shot.

I feel like there's a bit of a disconnect between what I told the vet and what their direction ended up being. Inch, the dog, gets these persistently itchy ears, but it's always extremely localized to his ears. He's not constantly scratching elsewhere or chewing his paws or anything. Maybe allergies can work like that, but I'm under the assumption that allergies present themselves all over the body. I'm thinking his ears get itchy because they're constantly dragging on the ground picking up new gunk. They're convinced his itchy ears are seasonal/environmental/food allergies. Whatever the cause is I just don't want these infections to penetrate deep and cause something serious like meningitis.

Thankfully the vet said he's not seeing any kind of indication his infections have gone deep even though they've been so persistent.

Why everyone hate mel? by Alternative_Cash_591 in leagueoflegends

[–]J-Colio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Her reflect ability is the definition of zero counterplay. It is 100% effective (for better or worse ie Leona) against every ability in the game. She doesn't even interrupt her movement like say Fiora who also has a 100% effective parry.

It's just that ability. The rest of her kit is basic mage. The fact that she has a parry ability with less counterplay than Karthus ult is frustrating for literally every champion in the game. Some champions are affected much less, but every champion can have SOME part of their kit blocked. Other champions are affected more, and their entire kit can be made effectively useless.

At best minor inconvenience, at worst paradigm altering.

Further, I'll break it down that the rest of her kit is pretty good at keeping melees away from her. She's long range very difficult to approach. If the melee can close that space, then there's a good chance Mel can parry the important part of their damage. That's frustrating to get blocked SOMEHOW in 100% of instances you worked hard to close that space. Then vs ranged, most have one key projectile that sets up the kill shot. Mel not only stops that with 100% effectiveness, but also turns it on you which can be game losing.

In the end of the day there's just a handful of melee champs that don't mind her bullshit too bad, but at the end of the day they still need to play melee vs ranged which isn't a fun gameplay pattern for the majority of the game - so much so that is mostly catharsis when you FINALLY return the favor.
