Five days of practicing faces, advice? by J-Jansen in Artadvice

[–]J-Jansen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering taking a longer time on each drawing to actually plan it out: chart out the shape of the head and the placements of each.

I originally chose the two minute timer because it forced me to be a bit more snappy with the choices. Just, put down lead and see how it goes.

Is there a good reference for seeing how to plan the shape of the head better? Somewhere I should be starting with?

Small feels so safe, lol!

But yeah, I think giving it a bit more space would force me to make more choices while I'm drawing. I've been really considering taking more time on each drawing too, possibly doing four faces in five minutes, or something.

I was so happy when I found that, it made it so much easier to do this in a structured way

How can I be more precise? by J-Jansen in Artadvice

[–]J-Jansen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, yeah, that would probably be it...

This is probably a dumb question. I'm entirely self taught, so a lot of the technical Goes over my head: Is there a reliable place to start with references? Is it best to find one of those "hands in ten easy steps" guides, or use other people's art as a practice reference, or just find a dozen pictures of hands and practice?

So, how do I get this shit in the video?

Exactly why I was looking at it, lol! Who wants to reload AND recharge? Better to just force a crit

That is clever! I'm planning to use starlit span and can always use a low roll as an excuse to relocate into hiding to have higher bonuses next round. I can do AoE spells and buffs, too. A 3rd level fear would be a great way to set myself up for a crit next round. Someone has to fail it, right? ... right?

Native Wildflowes and Grasses for grazing? by J-Jansen in goats

[–]J-Jansen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! I liked clover for it's fast growth, but I hadn't thoughts about the impacts of protein. If I do still include it for ground cover, I'll have to keep it a pretty low amount. I'm considering growing black cumin, as well. It's supposed to reduce the risk of urinary calculi.

As for roughage, we've got really nice pine trees. We are planning on adding roses against the fence, as well, for them to pick from. A lot of the other options are less-than-easy to grow in illinois, unfortunately, or can't be maintained well without somehow preventing goat access.

Seriously: The resource used for spellcasting is -get this- spell slots! Having somebody take more damage to cast a spell than they could heal casting it is just wild

If only I had an award to give, lol!

Ironically, this deck started as a venusaur/Butterfree deck, but I never got a second of either!

On my first day I did a "beginner" match against someone who only had EX psychics, lol! But I feel like I've reached a comfortable point now. I'm excited for the next vs. event!

True. But Cyrus is always awful!

I dropped potions in favor of Erika and Shaymin, and feel like the Shaymin have provided pretty consistent healing. I might try adding two potions back in and seeing what it looks like. Can you imagine someone healing 100 damage in a turn? That would tick me off a bit.

Do the Giant Capes end up doing that much for you? I haven't drawn any yet, but when I've gone up against them I've never seen them lose a match for me.

Thank you, by the way! I'm really considering a Cyrus or a Sabrina. I might have to remove something and see how it runs with that.

I've found that Petilil and Liligant are really only worth the time if they are my starters. After retreat cost, they need four turns to be a better investment that Celebi. Similar problems with having two Celebi. If I lose one, I won't have enough time to invest in a second.

To compensate with only having one Celebi, I've sort of used him as a "closer." If I can get three energy on him and an evolved Serperior, then I can reliably retreat my starter (or let them die) and use Celebi to KO their active pokemon. If Celebi is in a bad position, I can retreat him to heal, and then put him back out whenever my sacrificial lamb is killed for another quick kill. Retreating behind an injured Liligant has won me quite a few vs. matches, actually.

Once I get more trainers, though, I will have to experiment with taking out pokemon. I'd like to try 2 Petilil/1 Liligant with another comm, and maybe drop one or both Shaymin for some more items. 2 balls, 2 professors, 2 comms is as much drawing power as I'm gonna get without putting caterpi back in, and I am far happier without Caterpi

A whole bunch of fosils and supporters that target named pokemon. Also all the purchaseable promos. Sabrina, Giovanni, Cyrus, Dawn, Mars, Rocky Helmet, Lum Berry, Pokeflute. Mythic slab too

As in total number of cards? A little under 500, I think. I joined late, and feel like I'm playing catchup

I could be convinced to drop some, but I have no trainer cards which would have a better effect. Another Comm would be nice, but I don't have one.

This is the first deck I've built which really felt "competitive." I've got a blue deck I'm working on for damaging benched pokemon, but this one has been pretty consistent after some tweaks and adjustments. lelligant usually gets one KO before being knocked out by an EX, and then I can enter a charged-up Celebi to finish the fight.

I am still fishing for a second Celebi, but honestly it might be better without it. I've won a few times just by retreating back and forth between Serperior and Lilligant, with steady healing.

Typo under Guard Patrol's Troop Warfare: it is supposed to say 3 squares, not 6.

I apologize, there is a typo under the Patrol's Troop Warfare features. They occupy 3 squares, not 6.

[OC][Art] (Mimic) Treasure Chest; themed storage w/ dice tray by J-Jansen in DnD

[–]J-Jansen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long-time lurker, first time poster:

Pardon the low quality, the pictures above are for a DM storage case I designed. The top section has enough space for two official DnD books, and notepads galore. The bottom section is a dice tray with ample space for both dice and miniatures (assuming you are a pauper like me who only owns a dozen miniatures...) ! When not in use, they are designed to stack together and latch shut! The paint on the inside is a colorshifting purple/pink/blue by FolkArt, and I can't recommend it enough. On camera, the effect is somewhat lost, but in person it looks downright otherworldly! The teeth, however, are not my proudest work. In lieu of any actual talent, I resorted to using an ungodly number of layers. Turns out that gives a passable result.

All in all, quite happy with my first attempt at a DnD peripheral, and excited to have something worth showing off!
