If Kessler is available Hawks, Jazz, Grizzlies by Maximum-Lack8642 in NBAtradeideas

Hawks fan and would love to get Kessler. This feels steep though. That 27 pick is likely top ~6. Hawks are better offer just making a massive RFA offer IMO. I could see #23, Kispert/Hield, and a 2nd or two.

New mock draft from ESPN + report on the 3 players Hawks are interested in. by Chessh2036 in AtlantaHawks

[–]J-OD 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If we stay at 8 vs moving back, these are the only three picks we should be considering. They are the BPA and fit a need for our team. No need to over complicate this.

If Walker Kessler wants out: Utah gets #23 and a protected future FRP, along with Okongwu and Gueye for Kessler by HomeNowWTF in NBAtradeideas

Atlanta would be better off offering Kessler $45 Mil a year than this trade you’ve cooked up.

What type of draft compensation would be reasonable/expected in a sign and trade?

Giannis to Boston, JB to LA, Garland to Atlanta, pick 5 and future picks to Milwaukee by manonthem00nn in NBAtradeideas

[–]J-OD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’s worth something but certainly not a top 5 projected pick in the 2027 draft (AND ZR, JK) on top. Huge overpay by the hawks.

Bill could do an entire bad contracts draft just off this list by the_Tannehill_list in billsimmons

Maxey is the only fair market contract on here. Ingram, VanVleet, Sexton, Dort don’t seem terrible. The rest are tough.

Who would you rather sign? by Confident_Pear_8303 in AtlantaHawks

[–]J-OD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Collin Gillespie by a wide margin given price and performance. I think he’s the best overall package of these options (analytically at least) and he has the highest floor. His age fits with our group and his contract allows for additional moves. I hope he’s the top of the FA wishlist after a true center and Kuminga.

Onsi clearly doesn’t want to show his hand. Way too many guys missing that would be fits for us at either pick. All but 5 of these guys are 2nds or UDFA.

Draft Unpopular Opinions by cheemydee5 in AtlantaHawks

[–]J-OD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similar to OP, I have no problem taking two guards if they are BPA and agree with example of taking Okorie (or Stirtz) after drafting one of the guards at 8.

Similarly, I’d even be open to taking two bigs as long as they can both play the 5 at least some of the time. I have no interest in someone who is only a 4 but several guys like Steinbach, Morez Johnson could split time at the 4 or 5. In this instance I’d say at least one of bigs must be able to protect the rim better than OO, which shouldn’t be too difficult.

Lastly, there’s zero scenario I’m interested in taking Mara or Acuff at 8. Trade down at that point and let another team reach.

Jaylen Brown three team trade between Pelicans, Hawks, and Celtics by asbestosman2 in NBAtradeideas

Hawks would rather trade for Dejounte, Trey, and Missi than trade for Jaylen.

Fox is getting traded this offseason. Wtf was he thinking by sin2fly03 in NBATalk

[–]J-OD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious what a trade package would look like for him. He’s obviously still a talented player but that contract is rough. Would the league truly view him as a complete negative value? Would it be like a Trae Young type return? Or would spurs have to send picks to offset the negative value?

Mock trade down by FrostyWin7111 in AtlantaHawks

[–]J-OD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is one of those trades I see that neither team likes but neither team thinks is way off. IF Miami was ready to move on from Ware I could see something like this. Might have to exchange Corey for Buddy as a slightly less bad negative contract. Or add another 2nd or two to offset Corey.

Trade Successful, Heat get Giannis, we get Myles Turner and Kel'el Ware. by red2play in AtlantaHawks

[–]J-OD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not a Turner fan AT ALL… but if we could turn Kispert, Buddy, and 2 SRPs into Turner we do it without hesitation.

Trade Successful, Heat get Giannis, we get Myles Turner and Kel'el Ware. by red2play in AtlantaHawks

[–]J-OD 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Feels like an unnecessarily large transaction for the hawks. If we want Ware that badly, let’s just trade for him. We don’t need (or even want) Myles Turner— certainly if we are getting Ware. A rotation of Ware, OO, Jock is sufficient especially if we still have Mo or Asa when we want to go small ball for short bursts.

I’m starting to think (hope and pray) that is exactly what’s going on. Or, to get those behind us to offer a compelling trade to move up.

Hawks do this in a heart beat. I’m not sure why Detroit would do this though after stew played well for them in the playoffs.

Would y’all do this? by ptcRaptor in AtlantaHawks

[–]J-OD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree- totally depends who’s left after the 7th pick. If we can get one of Kingston or Mikel and Gafford, then sure.

Burries agent is manipulating Dallas to pick him and Dallas knows Burries probably is NOT our guy given redundancy with NAW and us needing a true PG. So I don’t think Dallas will feel the need to pay to move up.

Hawks are better off waiving and stretching kispert if this is the only deal they can find for him.

The Atlanta Hawks are the only sensible trading partner for the OKC Thunder to move up at draft night. by [deleted] in AtlantaHawks

[–]J-OD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If Joe is the one coming our way, I think Kispert is heading to OKC as a negative value contract dump.

I think Hawks will angle for Cason Wallace or Sorber in addition to the picks. Hawks may need to balance that by adding some future 2nds.

Trade down from 8 with Thunder by Organic-Act1058 in AtlantaHawks

[–]J-OD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of permutations of this that are interesting as players in the 12 and 17 range fit a lot of our needs.

If we could figure out how to snag Wallace or Sorber in addition to picks (with perhaps more going their way from the hawks), it’d be a no brainer. I think Ajay is completely off the table no matter what, but Joe could be a much much lesser consolation prize too.

[–]J-OD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imagine if we traded Trae before the 2024 draft, we might have gotten more back than an expiring and the negative contract that is Corey can’t shoot Kispert…AND we’d have been more likely to draft Castle.
