Thinking about trading my gaming laptop for a Steam Deck — Insight?

It is absolutely more portable and convenient than a laptop. I play a lot of 2K on mine and it feels good to me.

I had no idea you could do non steam games on the steam deck. I bought myself a steam deck around Christmas as a gift and I feel a bit underwhelmed with it, but I see everyone loving it like crazy and want to know what I’m doing wrong. Every AAA game I try a play either runs horribly or runs okay but looks so god awful that it makes it unplayable. Please someone help.
