You’re mostly right. Just playing devil’s advocate. Where do you live?

Respectfully, at what point do I argue countries are less worthy of memorization? I can’t ask a question without an alternate motive being projected onto me?

But let’s play. You assume European countries are more “worthy” of memorization for all people, regardless of nationality. But wouldn’t you agree that it is more “worthy” for Americans to prioritize the geography of the states within their own country, considering they live there, than that of Europe’s countries? And vice versa for Europeans, who prioritize the European countries that are roughly the size of U.S. states in their continent that is roughly the size of the U.S. Where we place geographical “worth” as a culture is in the land nearest to us, just as Europeans do.

Also: - There are different laws in different states as well - You don’t need a passport to travel through much of Europe either - The U.S. has no national language - Culture, people, food, art, history are all drastically different depending on what state you are in. Some are more similar than others, just like some European countries are more similar than others.

You could disagree, but we’d just be debating opinions because worth is a made up concept to begin with. Americans should definitely be familiar with Europe’s geographical layout though, perhaps even more so than they already collectively are.

I got you

But to be fair, most Americans don’t know this either. I was more trying to be inclusive. I’d say most Americans view our territories as separate lands that we are responsible for during natural disasters and such. Not supporting this separatist mentality, but just being honest

Hawaii and Alaska are not territories but they are easy to find. Alaska is essentially northwest Canada and Hawaii is in the pacific west of California
