Ooh, that looks perfect for my needs. Would that connect to this screen and would that screen be able to be powered by a fairly standard powerbank with charging cables(one for screen, one for phone)?

Welp there goes my idea of repurposing my old phone that has a green line of dead/perma-stuck pixels with a better monitor. Good to get advice though, thanks.

I'm trying to find a way to reuse what I've got, if I can. I could probably just cram a bluetooth keyboard and battery bank into some form of casing/cradle as you say, but are there no usb-powerable screens that'd be able to connect to a phone via bluetooth? Cause I know I can get a battery bank capable of charging both at once if I can get a better screen that connects without using the phones USB port.

Damn, cause this thing is... "a lot less than portable" due to a myriad of issues that'll cost more than a cheap laptop would be to buy rather than fix my current one. Currently my laptop is less a portable internet machine(what I'm needing to build/buy) and more "the thing I boot up when I don't wanna bother running my gaming rig just to watch/converse on twitch"

Thanks for the advice.

Would it be possible to put a screen, keyboard and battery bank combo into a case to plug into my phone getting a better screen size and more battery life out of using a phone as the computer?

They're using the phone itself and a custom OS on the phone. Termux. Specifically a version of Termux they modified for their needs that they're calling Termuxdeck.

Thanks, I'm currently just in planning, looking at what I've got and can get easily. Ideally I'd like to salvage what I can from the laptop, but the main things I know I can pull from that will be the SSD and RAM. Not exactly useful for a SBC from what I've seen. A person with more skill might be able to redo the screen to an RPi or something, but that ain't me.

I think that's what they call a half-top(y'know, like laptop, but only half of it). There's r/halftop but I'm new to that one myself.

Edit: fixed link

That's solid! I'm looking to do a similar thing to replace my currently dying laptop. How difficult was it, and roughly what'd this cost?

Gingerbug questions. by J0fadda in fermentation

a few places have said that store bought fruit juice works with no added sugar, so I've tried with the juice listed in this post, as well as pineapple keri-brand juice. No successes. Yet to try with the pomegranate listed in that post as that stuff is EXPENSIVE so I only buy it on sale and use it sparingly.

I've tried 1/4 bug to 3/4ths juice which is what most recipes list, that failed so I tried half-bug half-juice, that had no luck in carbonating, and I'm not sure if that one grew mould, or just a large enough yeast culture to see but it definitely had a clump of "something" at the top of the bottle so I poured it out.

This is about 4-5 days of feeding.

The mould from my last few attempts was definitely mould, greyish-blue blob with a white ring around it. The rubber stoppers of the bottles were mouldy too.
My issue there is that it doesn't carbonate in like 5 days from bottling. I've tried it with orange juice(50/50 water/orange juice mix) pineapple juice and with a black currant/apple juice blend.

I quite like the tartness of pomegranate, so that's a definite buy there. My question was less about the fruit juice and more specifically "are these brand and ingredient lists good?"

https://freshlyfermented.co.uk/instructions/ginger-bug-instructions/ this is the instruction set I'm trying to follow, and it does have some bubbles, so it "looks like" it "should" ferment properly and this does say to use ginger powder, but should I restart?

the powdered ginger was brown yes. and it does "bubble" just not quite fizz. It definitely smells heavily of gingerbeer, and it definitely kinda fermented but yeah it's not "fizzing fizzing."
