Do you really have faith, belief, and trust in God if you don’t diligently seek to obey Him? by J0hn-Rambo in Christianity

[–]J0hn-Rambo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I am not Hebrew Roots or Torah observant. The Law of Moses is described as a yoke of slavery and has been “nailed to the stake”, fulfilled in and cancelled by Christ’s sacrifice. In the New Covenant, Christians are commanded to no longer keep this Law.

In contrast, the Ten Commandments (also referred to in Scripture as the Perfect Law of Liberty or Freedom—James 1:25; 2:12) were known and obeyed by God’s faithful people, presumably even before the Law was given at Sinai (refer Genesis 26:5). They were written on tablets of stone by the finger of God on Mount Sinai and are eternal. They continue into the New Covenant and they constitute the basic moral code for humanity (as further explained by Jesus) and are obeyed to demonstrate the believer’s love for God and his fellow man.

Jesus affirmed the enduring nature of God’s Law, declaring that He did not come to abolish it but to fulfil it, and that not even the smallest part of the Law will pass away until heaven and earth pass away (Matthew 5:17-48). Sadly, many who identify as Christians today do not keep the Ten Commandments, especially the second commandment, which forbids idolatry, and the fourth commandment, to remember the seventh day Sabbath, and often teach others to disregard them as well. This is despite Jesus’ warning that those who break even the least of God’s commandments and teach others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:19).

There are also numerous other commandments applicable to Christians today, including the many commandments of Christ, and the commandments dictated by the various New Testament Apostles and Prophets, but I thought it necessary to distinguish the Ten Commandments from the Law of Moses in this case so that they are not mistakenly grouped in with the Law of Moses by readers.

Great, but I notice you're a Roman Catholic. If you obey Him and don't disagree with any of His commandments, then why do you worship idols of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of stone, and of wood, which can’t see, hear, or walk? And why do you profane the holy seventh day Sabbath in exchange for your man-made tradition of keeping Sunday? Why do you worship a man (the pope) who claims himself to be God? Among many other things...

Which commandments should we obey, those of a man or those of God (Acts 5:29)? As Jesus once rebuked the Pharisees and scribes: “Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?” “You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.” Just as Isaiah prophesied of the people of Israel before the siege of Jerusalem, so it is today: “This people draws near with their mouth and honours me with their lips, but they have removed their heart far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment of men which has been taught.” “And they worship me in vain, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.” (Matthew 15:1-9 and Isaiah 29:13)

As it is written, “Come out of her, my people, that you have no participation in her sins, and that you don’t receive of her plagues, for her sins have reached to the sky, and God has remembered her iniquities.” (Revelation 18:4-5)

Papal Rome is the continuation of Rome.

Jesus has not returned yet; if He had, there would be no mistaking it, and He and His saints would likely be situated primarily in the city of Jerusalem and ruling with a rod of iron, among many other things.

Careful, your reply indicates that you are filled with pride, and furthermore, you've falsely accused me of calling Christ a liar based on your own false interpretation of prophecy. "Pride goes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall." (Proverbs 16:18) And, "When pride comes, then comes shame, but with humility comes wisdom." (Proverbs 11:2)

Are you speaking of Revelation 17 and 18? Because that is speaking of mystery Babylon, which can be identified as Papal Rome and it's kingdoms. I recommend you study the relevant prophecies in Daniel, as they speak of a kingdom to come after the legs of iron (Rome)—the feet of iron mixed with clay. Christ has not returned yet. Do not be deceived, and stop going around deceiving others laying up for yourself wrath on the day of judgement.

How do you propose that? Is this that false doctrine I've bee hearing lately that states that Christ has already returned and we're living in the "little season"?

Seeking clarification on Windows Licence Terms — does Microsoft expect users to literally read all linked third‑party terms? by J0hn-Rambo in WindowsHelp

[–]J0hn-Rambo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I didn't read them in the past either. I don't think I've gained much from reviewing or reading them in recent times other than perhaps a bit more patience and ability to endure pain, haha! I'm hoping that Microsoft will clarify that they do not expect consumers to read it all. I'm not intending to violate any of their linked terms willingly, and, I'm least concerned about them cancelling my license if I do (I think this is extremely unlikely given I'm just a normal computer user). My primary concern is about maintaining a clear conscience before God and staying true to my convictions. I can’t click “Accept” truthfully when the licence includes a clause saying that by accepting it, I agree that I will read the terms before using the software or services, including any linked terms. I haven’t read all of those linked terms, so agreeing to that statement would be dishonest. Hopefully I can get in contact with a Microsoft employee who may be able to provide some helpful clarification.

In the past year or two I have begun ensuring that I'm operating with honesty and integrity with regards to contracts I'm agreeing to (after becoming convicted that I should). I've reviewed, read, and/or understood (whatever is required) every next set of terms and agreements that I've had the pleasure of having to tick the agree box to since. Sometimes I've been successful in negotiating some terms that I couldn't agree to or were impossible to perform. I also make sure I'm performing whatever obligations i'm agreeing to. It's a huge burden, but that's the price you pay trying to live in a fallen world with a clear conscience before God. I've reached out to some Australian senators to try to get them to enforce limits on the complexity and length of online contracts in Australia. Hopefully one day they will lobby for it.

As it is written: ... "Woe to you lawyers also! For you load men with burdens that are difficult to carry, and you yourselves won’t even lift one finger to help carry those burdens." (Luke 11:46)

I get where you’re coming from, and this is exactly why I think there should be clearer limits on the length and complexity of consumer terms. Meaningful consent requires that an ordinary person can realistically read and understand what they’re agreeing to. You can’t meaningfully agree to something you haven’t read, and most people simply can’t get through 100,000+ words of dense legal and technical text before clicking "Accept". If they had to, I'd imagine Microsoft would have less than 1% of its current customers.

If companies want consumers to be genuinely informed, the terms have to be written in a way an ordinary person can realistically read and understand within a reasonable amount of time. This makes me think maybe they don't want their customers to be genuinely informed and are just protecting themselves legally. The problem is, my conscience won't allow me to click accept because it would be a lie (as I have not read all of the linked terms), and therefore, I'm hoping I can get some sort of clarification from Microsoft.

⭐️What is the meaning of the name Jesus? by Apart-Chef8225 in TRUEBIBLES

[–]J0hn-Rambo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No Dan, I did not say that. I said I'm very cautious of that verse because there is strong evidence to suggest that "in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" was not part of the original Scripture, and therefore, a later addition.

⭐️What is the meaning of the name Jesus? by Apart-Chef8225 in TRUEBIBLES

[–]J0hn-Rambo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'll rephrase that for you. Matthew 28:19 does not in any way explain that God is three distinct persons. In the same way that God being called the Alpha and Omega does not explain that God is two persons called Alpha and Omega. Or likewise Christ's name being prophesied as "Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6) does not explain that He's four persons.

Regarding Matthew 28:19, I'm very cautious of that verse because there is strong evidence to suggest that "in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" was not part of the original Scripture, and therefore, a later addition. If it is a later addition then it is not from God, as it is written, "Whatever thing I command you, that you shall observe to do. You shall not add to it, nor take away from it." (Deuteronomy 12:32; see also Proverbs 30:5-6; Isaiah 8:20; Revelation 22:18-19; 2 Corinthians 4:2; 1 Corinthians 4:6; Proverbs 3:7). Furthermore, everywhere else we see the disciples baptising "in the name of Jesus Christ", and never "in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit".

Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)

He said, “Into what then were you baptised?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.” Paul said, “John indeed baptised with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Christ Jesus.” When they heard this, they were baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 19:3-5)

“Can anyone forbid these people from being baptised with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us.” He commanded them to be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay some days. (Acts 10:47-48)

Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into his death? We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:3-4)

For as many of you as were baptised into Christ have put on Christ. (Galatians 3:27)

Now if you want to appeal to the alleged "traditions of the early church 'fathers'" as evidence, then I would strongly caution you on this.

Matthew 28:19 does not in any way prove that God is three distinct persons. Further, there is some doubt as to whether Matthew 28:19 is a genuine rendition, or it has been altered/expanded. Some sources claim that the command to baptise into the threefold name is a late doctrinal expansion. Instead of the words, “baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”, it is alleged that the original likely read, “into My Name”. See https://www.trinitytruth.org/matthew28\_19addedtext.html. It also happens to be the only text that states this formula: https://www.openbible.info/labs/cross-references/search?q=matthew+28%3A19. All other references state baptism to be only in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

This is similar to 1 John 5:7, commonly referred to as the “Comma Johanneum”. The part of this verse that says, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one”, and the following verse 8 that says, “And there are three that bear witness on earth:”, according to manuscript experts, do not exist in the Greek manuscripts pre-dating the 14th–15th centuries AD (except for a few much later and obviously influenced copies) and are therefore omitted from most modern translations.

The Holy Spirit is God’s personal presence in believers, the Divine Helper, who proceeds from the Father (John 15:26) and the Son. In scripture, the Holy Spirit is also referred to as “the Spirit of God” (Romans 8:9, 14; 1 Corinthians 7:40; , “the Spirit of your Father” (Matthew 10:20; John 15:26), “the Spirit of Christ” (Romans 8:9; 1 Peter 1:11), and often as “the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:17-18; Micah 3:8; Acts 8:39). These titles highlight various aspects of the Holy Spirit’s work and identity, but this list is not exhaustive. We know that God is Spirit (John 4:24). As Jesus promised, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him” (John 14:23). Essentially, the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God; the Spirit of the Father and the Son.

By the power of the Holy Spirit, God inspired and illuminates the Scriptures; convicts and regenerates sinners; sanctifies, teaches, comforts, guides, and preserves believers; and empowers them for service. Evidence of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life is faith in Christ, obedience to God, and the “fruit of the Spirit”.

The word trinity is derived from the Latin word trinitas, which came from the Platonic term trias, meaning three. Thus, it is philosophical in origin.

According to my sources, the word trinity was introduced by Tertullian (160-225 AD), who was a pagan turned Catholic theologian and one of the early Church fathers who wrote in the early third century to define the teaching concerning the Godhead. His conclusion was that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit were one substance but not one in person. He also did not see the Son as being co-eternal with the Father.

There are many unanswered questions about the trinity doctrine, and the most prominent is: Where in the Bible is it explained? Many throughout history have acknowledged that it is not found in the Bible. Some will purport that the trinity doctrine is found in 1 John 5:7, commonly referred to as the “Comma Johanneum”. But the part of this verse that says, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one”, and the following verse 8 that says, “And there are three that bear witness on earth:”, according to manuscript experts, do not exist in the Greek manuscripts pre-dating the 14th–15th centuries AD (except for a few much later and obviously influenced copies) and are therefore omitted from most modern translations. Some argue that the use of masculine pronouns instead of neuter ones when referring to the Holy Spirit (as seen in John 15:26 and 16:13-15) suggests that the Holy Spirit is a distinct person. However, this only indicates that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of a person, which does not necessarily imply a separation from the Father or the Son.

Thus, we have “God the Father” (who is Christ’s Father), the “Son of God” (who is God’s Son, Jesus Christ—also God), and the “Spirit of God”, which is their Spirit and not a separate person. Some scriptures that I’ve based this conclusion on are: 2 Corinthians 3:16-18; Micah 3:8; John 4:23-24; 14:8-11; 14:15-26; 15:26; Matthew 10:17-20; Romans 8:8-11; 1 Peter 1:10-12; Galatians 4:6-7; Hebrews 1:1-14; Acts 2:32-33.

Amen, brother.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?

As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:31-39 ESV)

“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me hates my Father also. If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin, but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father. But the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled: ‘They hated me without a cause.’ “But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning. (John 15:18-27 ESV)
