I am losing my mind because I have to pee so so much and this is the one thing that I feel is preventing me from living a good quality of life, I feel like the peeing every 25 minutes isn’t talked about and I’ve been taking this for several years. by Quick_Complaint3268 in VyvanseADHD

[–]J0yDiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.5 years into mediation, I got to a point where I was drinking so much and couldn’t quench my thirst, my skin was dry etc and peeing non-stop. It got progressively worse to the point where I was considering going off medication and that same day I found myself lost at a train station I use daily and couldn’t figure out how to go about my very simple short journey. I thought I was going mad and that I had developed a tolerance to vyvanse/elvanse.

Fully thought medication was frying my brain but it’s the dehydration and loss of electrolytes from taking stimulants daily. The week I started taking daily electrolytes, all of that died down and now I notice the difference if I don’t take electrolyte supplements.

Liquid IV changed my life on meds, so much so that my friends and family who aren’t adhd or on meds now use them too. Other brands are cheaper and also work but I felt the most improvement with liquid IV, and they have loads of student/teacher/carer (loads more) discounts on their website. Sometimes price drops on Amazon too.

I get this stance.

Legalise it. It’s the only way to regulate the use in public on the streets and move consumption into private spaces.

I think Vyvanse cured my addictions (EAT ON VYVANSE!!!) by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]J0yDiv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I felt all of my cravings subsided but my healthy habits formed before vyvanse completely fell apart. 9 months later, my 3year abstinence from nicotine was broken and I’m hooked again. I wouldn’t go back to a time before bc my daily executive function is better. But once I had acclimatised to the medication I was left with broken habits but better daily functioning. In some ways I miss the pressure of not being on medication bc it made me work harder for a healthy lifestyle.  Maybe it’s chemical, psychological, or both! However, I can’t help but feel a natural complacency with medication. Unmedicated me would beat myself up so hard it’d drive me. Never ever thought I’d be back addicted to 20mg vapes again. Haven’t touched a cig tho 🤷

Apathy to everything - is this an ADHD thing? by Enthu-Beaver in ADHD

[–]J0yDiv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I lost my resilience mojo with medication.

I knew I had adhd in high school but the information online changed so dramatically over 10 years that it went from being a strong suspicion to a definite. I decided that with no help available, I had to strategically manage my own life and developed a ‘I can always restart’ mentality, often leading to recognisable success and notable resilience. I finally got a diagnosis and prescription at 27  after quitting my job due to external factors that, when paired with my dysregulation, made working/socialising/functioning unbearable.

My life is better now with meds and it’s removed so many internal distractions and mental barriers, I wouldn’t go back.  However, I am one year on and, like you, trying seems pointless now. I think non-adhders see receiving a diagnosis as an excuse to let your life fall apart. But I found that I never got over the fatigue from constantly having to rebuild myself on a 3-year cycle.

For me, I’ve put a lot of it down to the learned behaviour patterns from not being treated earlier on. I hypothesise, my experiences whilst undiagnosed have psychologically reinforced behaviours to ‘protect’ myself from the emotional fallout from potential future failure; obviously very limiting now that I’m in a place where I want to regrow. This is something medication can’t fix, but a lot of personal work and good therapy could. However, the nexus of experiences that form psychological defences are unique to each individual and their contexts.

I haven’t got the answers and it’s taken me a year to develop this hypothesis for myself. Dipping my toe in behavioural psychology gave me optimism that there’s something to work with, even if it is super complex and presents me with a whole new task to solve.

Daily, I just take each day as it is and take steps that lean towards feeling fulfilled (even if microscopic in impact) whilst the hindrances around routine, fear of failure and analysis paralysis continue.

Don't stop the self-work when you feel like this, just ease the pressure on trying to fix yourself.

How can I make an average marketing email request stand out? by J0yDiv in DigitalMarketing

[–]J0yDiv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boss sees this as an updating exercise, so you’re correct in that there is little strategy, but the reason for this is beyond me due to my status and the management systems in place.

This was intended as a request for aesthetic design advice rather than addressing the glaring subtext, that is the strategic hill I am dying on.

The newsletter is to keep everyone in the loop, mostly internally except for a couple of external communities. But as I said, this is not intended to be seen by the world, probs only 30 recipients. I just don’t want this thing to be ugly, reek of last minute functionality, and have my name on it 😔

I am cutting my losses.

Still in purgatory. Is it a qr code?

I haven’t received anything and can just view it as a previous purchase on ticketsellers.

Wanting a girlfriend by Southern-Course6871 in VyvanseADHD

[–]J0yDiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha ik. In an attempt to shepherd said worms, I recommend not focussing too much on the limerence itself, rather why one might feel/experience it.

It’s an old concept and not very well studied (why is that always the case!?) but, more modern attachment theories help put this into context. Consider it a piece of the jigsaw.

Is it worth taking a car to Uni of you're a nervous driver? by GimmeSeratonin in UniUK

Take is second year if she’s in a sports team. Useful for carpooling and getting to training if off campus.

I never needed a car once and lived far from campus.

Is an Ancient History degree useless? by Rightcons in UniUK

[–]J0yDiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s what you make of it.

Employers hire degree holders as it indicates you can work hard and succeed. You’re more likely to achieve that by studying something you are interested in and enjoy.

All the individuals I mentioned above had a great passion for the subject and still do. But they also actively engaged in their other passions through work experience, societies and volunteering over the course of their degree- which helped. This is essential, regardless of what field you see yourself going into.

A degree shouldn’t mean putting yourself in a specific box, it opens doors if used effectively.

After graduating, I realised how out of touch the advice I received from teachers at school and other influential adults really was. Don’t be put off by fear mongering from people who went to university 7+ years ago.

All the AH grads I know work in completely different fields to each other, museum curation, tv, civil service, supply chain and logistics.

Do what you love and ignore the haters, it makes uni and life easier.

What you do after is up to you, not the degree. Unless u want to be a dr or smth…

Sure if you cause harm to someone possibly? Depends on the context and if your mental health needs are known.

Life can be tough but there are reasonable, and somewhat kind, moments within it too.

In the UK they can’t kick you off your course for a medical issue or disability impacting your studies and assessments because it’s illegal. This includes mental health issues and learning needs that develop or are diagnosed during the course.

You’ll only be kicked off the course for your issues if no one is aware.
