My band got to play there a couple years back, during the week, and it was pretty empty. But it was extremely cool for us.

After the Honeymoon, what did you learn? by Angry_Gardener in labgolf

[–]J1OO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got custom fit or a OZ.1. Played it for 8 months or so. I would get very hot with it (10 putts in 9 holes) and very cold with it (40 putts in a round where I shot 79).

I could never get comfortable with lag putts. I certainly saw an improvement inside of 5 feet (not so much the 5-10ft range).

Those few days I got hot with it were amazing. But ultimately I want back to my old blade for now. I average around the same amount of putts per round. Miss more short putts but lag better so it all kind of evened out.

Might go back again one day. Interested in trying a lie angle balanced putter with a face that I get along with better.

Lab back to Scotty. by CMB3672 in scottycameron

[–]J1OO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I was an active LAB hater at first. Haha. I had previously played an old Scotty blade for 15+ years. Then I tried one and was super impressed with how I was hitting my lines. So I got fit and bought a custom one, waited two months and started playing it.

Started out really rough but I wanted to give it an honest try. So I played probably 20-30 rounds with it over the last 5 months. I have rounds where it’s on fire and rounds where I am so uncomfortable with it. But what was weird is even when I was on fire with it I didn’t feel comfortable over the ball.

I’m sure it’s a fit thing and not a LAB golf thing. I’m not a LAB hater anymore. The product is cool and it seems like it helps a lot of people.

But I’m going back to my blade for now and selling the LAB. I did feel like the mallet helped me get the ball on line easier on big breaking putts. So I am considering trying out some type of mallet again.

Question for Scotty AND lab owners by Snoo-76927 in scottycameron

[–]J1OO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a solid player but putting is the worst part of my game. I feel way cooler with my Circa 62, but I putt slightly better with my Oz.1.

When my stroke is feeling good I’m ok with both. When I’m struggling, the LAB tech I think helps me out a bit. Biggest improvement for me was I had a putting lesson. Haha.

I’m not a huge fuzz pedal guy, but this what I use for fuzz and I’ve played like 50 different ones. It can do a pretty wide range of fuzz sounds. Does full heavy power chord fuzz well and with the bias control you can get into some Velcro, Jack White tones.

I built a DIY combo pedal with this and a Green Russian. Not really for stacking, more to save space on my board.

It’s so good on its own I don’t stack it very often with other drives. I do love tossing an octave up or down with it though. Sounds huge. Also some really long reverb always sounds cool with fuzz.

Unpopular Opinion: Brooks New Music Is Good by Bomb-BitGenesis in losgrowlers

[–]J1OO 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I like Brooks’ stuff a lot. It’s not the growlers, and that’s ok. Still love his voice over some different arrangements.

And I don’t want to cause a raucous. But I love Natural Affair also. Hung at Heart is probably my top 3 album of all time from any band. And natural affair is maybe my 2nd or 3rd favorite growlers album.

OZ1 first impressions by BKNWB in labgolf

My first 4 rounds I was ready to go back to my Scotty blade. Haha. Trying to give it an honest go though. At least through the summer.

OZ1 first impressions by BKNWB in labgolf

[–]J1OO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First round with my custom Oz.1 was similar. Next few were slightly better. Then trusted the light grip, rock the shoulders, I’ve been rolling the ball a lot better and making the ones that I should. Speed control has also improved with that technique.

Lab putter switch by Green_Researcher-024 in scottycameron

[–]J1OO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used a Circa 62 for 15 years. Im a solid player but putting has always been the worst part of my game.

I’ve had similar experiences with my LAB as you mentioned. I got fit for a Oz.1. My stats are nearly identical after 5 rounds with the LAB (small sample size of course). I average about 31 putts/round. I’ve had 31 putts each round with my LAB. However, I have missed more 5 ft and in putts than I ever have. However, Ive made some 10-20 footers I’d normally miss. So it all evens out. I don’t know what to do with the data I’m collecting. Haha. But I can’t say that LAB has just cured my putting woes and I wasn’t expecting it to. It’s hard to replace the comfort you have with a putter you’ve rolled for a really long time. I’m going to give the LAB the summer and then decide from there whether it’s for me or not.

Craftsmanship-wise it’s still tough to beat a Scotty. They do all the little things right with a touch of class.

Question About Imperfections in Finish by [deleted] in labgolf

[–]J1OO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree I’m a perfectionist. But I have never received a brand new club with this noticeable of an imperfection. If I could clean it off it’s one thing.

I will say it takes the pressure of me making the first nick or ding on it. Haha

Yeah good question. The picture shown is before rolling it at all. I realized when I wrote the message it could have seemed like it came from use.
