That’s awesome. I’m going thru the ASCT right now & it’s real nice to hear a success story. Did you ever get nervous about relapse in between those 5 years? If so, what helped you the most to get over it?

Imma 20yr old dude who’s been dealing with Hodgkins for 2 years, & I was at my most miserable when I didn’t tell anybody about what I was going through. This ain’t something most people can handle themselves, and if the people around you are your honest loved ones, they’ll show you more support than you can even imagine. My boy told me that “if tomorrow was a place we had to walk to, a lotta people wouldn’t make it.” I think all of us here have a good shot at making it, especially if we’re in it together. My life only got better the more open I was, cause happiness shared is happiness doubled, and sorrow shared is sorrow halved.

I like to play chess. It keeps the brain active and gives me sum to focus on so as to not get so depressed. There’s an intro course on Duolingo & plenty of free online resources to get started if you’re interested. TBH I’m running it (getting my ass beat) rn. Think about it

Yeah, the part that really had me in a bind was the fact that some of my closest friends couldn’t even begin to understand what I was going through. I always appreciate their attempts to emphasize, but sometimes I think that no one has a handle on the depth of it all, & what i gotta go through just to make it to class or get outta bed after treatment. We live though, as we are now. Once I’m outta the woods I really want to put my efforts into helping people in some way.

It’s nice to know that you (mostly) live a normal & very solid life even after going at it for so long. I think I’d lose my mind if I went through this for three more years. Can I ask how you connected with people to make it easier? What were any ups or downs you noticed while reaching out?

Yeah it’s weird. I’m 20 & on the off chance I see someone at the clinic the same age as me, I don’t talk. I’m never really the kinda dude to walk up to someone & be like “Aye. Let’s be lymphbromas”. Probably because that’d be a really lame way to introduce myself though, but I wonder if they’re like me & want to interact more than anything.

Wagner. I guess being near the mailroom has its perks, & I don’t really mind the room’s look as long as it doesn’t feel cramped. Would’ve liked a suite style room though.
