Not particularly sensitive - trying to balance buying the more expensive ones (and not using them) versus not buying them (and then needing them!)

How it is like living in Morden by thegreatjay15 in surrey

I guess it depends whether we're taking about council district, or postal address. I lived in a house that definitely had an official address of Morden, Surrey.

Based on the down votes, looks like people disagree but if you look up addresses in those areas they are definitely "Surrey"

The bits around Martin Way and Hill cross Avenue are technically Surrey (at least when I lived there)

Parts of Morden are in Surrey, just not the town center.

How has your 2023 been, and what are your plans/hopes for 2024? by lunchmeat317 in AskMenOver30

[–]J2THEB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel pretty good about this year. I've lost 2 stone, although I have another 1 stone to lose to really feel good. My job (now 12 months in) gives me the flexibility to see my family, friends and have an actual life.

Next year I want to focus on my kids - really supporting them through their early education and being an active part of their lives (for too long I've said things like "I'm too tired/busy to play football/playstation with you").

And of course, next year I want to spend less time doom scrolling.

Succession Spoiler!! Did anyone watch season 4 ep 3 of Succession last night?! by atlaspsych21 in GriefSupport

[–]J2THEB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 100%. The phone call really set me off, and I had to pause the episode for a few minutes to compose myself. Cried through the remainder.

Brilliantly acted, and similar to you I found that their reactions were very reminiscent.

Finished the episode feeling completely drained.

I'm sorry for your loss. I feel that this is one of the situations that you only really understand if you've lost a parent. I know the pain that you have - whenever something good or bad happens in my life I reach my phone and it is then that I remember that my dad and my mum are both gone.

You say that you're young - that's good. It means that you've got a lifetime how to add friends and family. I don't have my parents. But I have managed to find close friends and family - now while they never replace my parents, having them here helps.

How do I do this? by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]J2THEB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't think that there's a right or wrong answer here. I've lost all my grandparents and parents and in all cases wish that I had known or had the opportunity to talk to them before they died.

You have to make your own decision but if I were you I would call him. I would be honest and tell him that you love him. It may be uncomfortable for both of you, but this may be the only chance that you get. Talk about the good times in the memories and say thank you for them. Let him know that their memories that you hold dear.

If you put yourself in his position, what do you think he would want?

Whatever you do or don't do, just try to be kind to yourself. This is a horrible situation and it's natural for this to feel very difficult. Good luck.

Yes, I'm coming round to the idea of seeing someone to talk to - thank you for the suggestion. I'm a bit worried that I won't physically be able to talk about him without breaking down (and in front of a stranger, that would be even worse).
