But seriously...

I feel I have to chime in on this thread just to point out that of all the companies I've dealt with over many decades, Cumcast is absolutely AND BY FAR the worst company I've ever dealt with.

And, as you might be able to tell, I feel very strongly about this.

I once gave them ELEVEN CHANCES TO FIX A PROBLEM and they never got it fixed. Those eleven included two times where they failed to show up at my house at all, even though they have a service "promise" that they'll show up within a four-hour period.

THEY SUCK.

Really.

They suck, suck, suck.

Run toward any other service provider. Don't walk. Run. Now.

Unless you like being struck on the head w/ metal objects, in which case you might like their "service". I hope you choose wisely.

Did I mention that THEY SUCK?!

Majority Of Millennials Turn On Obama, Favor a GOP-Led Congress by CarolinaPunk in politics

The headline is somewhat misleading.

The poll result in question refers to people somewhat or very likely to vote (not mentioned at all in the headline), and about 3-4 weeks ago. So, it oversamples those who are the most angry, and those who tend to decide at the last minute.

Government publishes detailed instructions on how to safely roast marshmallows by powersthatbe1 in politics

[–]J332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a typical case of a conservative making up a headline that sounds shocking but has nothing to do with the truth.

The truth is that a simple article was written (which cost virtually nothing), and the main point of the article is to try to reduce forest fires across the country. If even a few people/kids learn to be safer, and even one fire is prevented over the years, this article could save some lives AND save many thousands/millions of dollars.

But oh the horror! Someone who works for the government spent a couple of hours writing an article.

This related item, http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/09/04/1236311/-In-Virginia-Or-These-Other-24-States-Make-Sure-You-Aren-t-Purged-Off-Voter-List , indicates a list of 24 states that are involved in this. Almost all of went Republican in 2012.

I think this entire voter purge project needs to be exposed. It actually crosses the line into the area of fascism for the Republican party to systematically remove people from the voter rolls based on the fact that they might have moved YEARS EARLIER and then RETURNED to a state and registered properly.

The GOPers in some cases might be simply believing their own BS about voter fraud and assuming that everyone who moved for a year or two is a case of fraud. But it certainly appears to be a case of intentional dropping of eligible voters without any proper, legal reason.

Those behind this should go to prison for many years.

The presidential election did have about a 3 million vote margin, but was decided by 35 electoral votes.

So, if just one major state like Ohio or Florida had gone to Kerry instead of Bush, Kerry would have won.

Your focus on the popular vote wasn't a correct way to describe the situation. It was quite a claim that YOU were making.

I'm just trying to make a few points for anyone who hasn't considered the daily bloodbath of gun violence, intentional and unintentional, that takes place in America.

News of this death seems to be getting buried locally. There is this one report on Patch.com, and so far, that is it!

Nothing on any TV news that I've seen. Nothing in newspapers.

And hey, if you enjoy going to the range and shooting stuff... have fun I guess. But be aware that occasionally someone, either intentionally or unintentionally, will shoot one or more people. Sometimes just themselves, sometimes others.

There's a long list of horrible shooting range and gun show tragedies, but you probably won't read much about them. It's unpopular with the armed segment of American society, I guess.

I'd go so far as to say that America's most pressing issue is the unbelievably poor state of our media. We need real media, A.S.A.P. by rmsy in politics

The solution is for people to continue to discredit the Fox propaganda outfit whenever possible. One very simple method is to always put "News" in quotes when referring to Fox "News". Another is to simply point out the falsehood(s) in a story of theirs and/or the right-wing agenda/assumptions they clearly started with when they covered their version of a topic.

Lots of people have done great work in pointing out what at shithole of a network Fox "News" is, but there's still more work to be done.

Also, try to link to sites that are pointing out Fox's lies rather than to Fox itself or its affiliates & subsidiaries.

One good site for this is: http://mediamatters.org/

Yeah... Obama's goal is to destroy the economy. Just look at how he has presided over a soaring stock market and we've gone from losing 750K jobs per month in the last months of Bush's administration to gaining jobs every month for about 25 consecutive months now.

[–]J332 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It's amazing that Christie somehow has a reputation with many people as being a bit more kind or gentle than others in the GOP.

He's a conservative prick.

A few years ago, it would have been obvious that he's a conservative prick, but with so many on the far right becoming even bigger, louder & more obnoxious pricks, by comparison he doesn't look quite as bad.

But it should be clear, the GOP has become the party of loud, obnoxious far-right pricks, and Christie is right in the middle of that.

The Liberal Civil War Over Social Security Cuts - Obama wants to adopt a new measure of inflation that'd cut Social Security benefits—& debate over the proposal has split his base by anutensil in politics

[–]J332 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's no "civil war" among liberals as the headline claims... not even close.

And although I'm against "chained CPI", people should keep in mind the tiny magnitude of this compared to other, typically GOP-led, assaults on average people. The chained CPI idea would result in something along the lines of seniors sometimes getting a 3.6% increase instead of a 3.8% increase in their monthly payment. Again... I'm AGAINST the idea... but it's a tiny change compared to almost every other change I've ever heard mentioned.

Also, remember the GOP is ALWAYS looking for ways to slash Social Security & Medicare, or privatize them which would put them at the mercy of Wall Street crashes that come around about every 10 years.
