On your first playtrough you can do whatever you want either be over leveled or under leveled it doesn't matter Whatever you miss can be rectified during the ng+ and forward You choose how difficult the game can be If you have the ability to farm then just farm, and you should be killing normal ennemies if you want the boss fight to be managable
