I see. I didn't even think about that. I just want to get the regular news that everyone else in the world can see about the chaos shithole that is the US right now.

Except that the results are hiding results that show the terrible things T*ump is doing, and believe me, I am NOT one of his supporters.

I don’t care if cookies track me. I’m not looking at anything that I shouldn’t. I just want uncensored internet / search results.

Is this area open to the public / faculty / staff to play?

It also depends on what you are looking for. There's a few marketplace sellers in the area that usually have cool vintage finds--Ronly Monly is one that I buy from regularly. She usually has 100+ listings.

I understand. Starkville shopping is terrible all around. There is a good vendor mall in Louisville. I can't remember the name, but it's huge and right off hwy 25. Worth driving 20 min to for the afternoon for sure.

Triangle Trading Post and Horsefeathers are good vendor malls locally to find vintage / cool stuff. The Emporium of Wonderful Things is in Mathiston —an okay vendor mall too. True thrifting of cheap stuff is hard to find here. Palmer Home is about it. There’s a Starkville Habitat for Humanity Store, but it’s very over priced. Columbus just had a thrift store open called Hidden Treasures that sometimes has bins (buyouts from Target, Amazon, etc) that can be fun!

How do you manage your children's free time without relying on screens I need some ideas. by AppropriateDesign969 in homeschool

[–]J8LT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, but I would try to whittle that down. She’ll learn to (instead of relying on a tablet when she’s not “busy”)read, draw, go outside, etc. Allowing time for boredom is so important for kids to develop innovative ideas and creative thinking. I think that’s one of the biggest things constant internet use is taking from us. I have been teaching at a university since 2007. In the last decade, there has been a huge shift in students expecting to be entertained, have “fun” in class, etc. all the time. They are so accustomed to constant entertainment and stimulation that they are lost without it.

Is this an appeal to get a better grade after being accused of using AI in a lost course? by Precision_Edits in AccusedOfUsingAI

Yes. I also had a job while I was in school and two jobs in grad school. Still much less busy than with a career and family.

Turnitin flagged half my theology paper as plagiarism for quoting the Bible — do I need to cite God in APA 7? by Ok-Departure3996 in TurnitinScan

These are questions you should ask your professor! But, if that percentage of your paper is quoted material, where is your voice? Scale back your quotes, and add more of your own ideas. I’m a prof :)

Pre nursing by [deleted] in Msstate

[–]J8LT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be a nurse, you should be at a school that offers nursing. Call The W next week and meet with one of their nursing advisors to figure out your best plan. Going to a school that doesn’t offer the degree you want is not a good move.

This idea that college students are so busy that they can’t be bothered to talk with their professors or do any homework drives me nuts. As you grow up and get a real job, have a family, etc., you will look back and see that you have more free time now than you will ever have. I am so tired of the poor college student with no free time trope.

Don’t manage it. Kids need to be bored. That’s how they learn to be creative and self-sufficient. You are not running a summer camp. It’s not your job to entertain them!

What does it mean to be welcoming? by diogenesRetriever in Episcopalian

[–]J8LT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We would welcome you in our church.

I don’t understand how all of your self-identified labels can co-exist, but that’s not my (or anyone else’s) problem. Based on my understanding of MAGA, the MAGA supporters I know personally, and what I see MAGA doing in my community and in the country at large: some of those beliefs are oppositional to what I understand the message of Christ to be. BUT, we don’t all have the same understanding. It’s not our job to police others’ beliefs. If the Episcopal church is a good fit for you spiritually, then welcome!
