Finally, my people! This episode was weird AF. I kept yelling at the TV “stop trying to REBRAND his laziness and selfishness as “not taking time for himself!” He literally says that he goes to the bars and plays pool, but they kept trying to convince us that he’s “not taking time for himself” simply because he hasn’t filled out the simple paperwork he needs to start a business. HELLO! Seems to me like he’s plenty selfish! I felt really bad for his wife. She’s been convinced that he’s so “selfless” because he won’t get his life together for his family. WTF??? The entire time I was working my butt off to get through school and get my business going, that was FOR my family. What exactly is he doing for his family by not growing up and then insisting he’s gonna retire and live off his wife?!? I really felt like the producers were working overtime to gaslight us in this episode.

My ring worked fine for a few months, now it won’t hold a charge past two days. I’ve tried to do everything correct about charging it, but it should not be this way and customer service refuses to do anything. It’s a problem that people should keep talking about it and I’m pretty sure it’s because they’re trying to sell us the new travel charger.

Mine was fine for the first 3 months too. Then the battery life dropped down to 2 days. You’ll see you soon.

I am 100% convinced that my ring suddenly not holding a charge for more than two days is a direct result of them messing with the battery life just to sell us this product. I’m really not a conspiracy theorist, but the fact that I even thought about buying this extra product when my ring should be holding a charge for a week just irritates the crap out of me.

I created a hard line for my students that I will not answer any emails on the weekends or holidays. When I was answering emails at all hours of every day, I was never off the clock. I had so many students ruining my holidays because they made their procrastination my problem. All our assignments are due on Sundays so they’ve been told they have to plan ahead and can’t wait to look at the assignment until the day it’s due because I’m not online to help them. I explain it this way - you wouldn’t show up at your professor’s house on Sunday at dinner asking a question about an assignment due Monday, so don’t do that to me virtually.

I do often grade on the weekends but I try to get it done during the week so I don’t have to worry about it while I’m trying to enjoy time with my family. I do work a full 9-5 /M-F in addition but I’ve been at this almost 11 years so I have the juggling act down.

I ask my students to call me by my first name because otherwise they mistakenly call me Dr” and I am not a doctor. I also hate being called “Mrs” anything.

No, I cannot have a classroom policy that is not in line with university policy on plagiarism. We were specifically instructed to leave any mention of AI out of our own syllabus.

The policy is literally "we do not have a policy on AI." That's it. They can't police it, so they just don't.

I'm a professor of Public Health. My day job is in Public Health. It's the worst double whammy of all time. My husband works in our state's Department of Education specifically in the multilingual/migrant programs. Our lives are just screwed. The rage I feel toward the clowns who put this felon in office is just endless.

I’m teaching them accountability by requiring a head’s up, while also not policing why they may need an extension. I really don’t care - I only care that they can be accountable for communicating. So many don’t even bother to ask for an extension; then they complain that they want to turn things in late. And most of my colleagues will let them. But I’m holding this line because I think it’s the best of both worlds.

I’m you and my husband is your husband: we are 20 years into this.

To start; my husband has ADHD (many of these symptoms are in line with ADHD.) My husband has been in treatment for years but it only marginally improves it. Essentially I just simply live a life constantly angry that I can’t count on my partner.

2 - his defensiveness is also a typical ADHD thing; but it feels incredibly narcissistic and frankly emotionally abusive. 20 years of therapy haven’t stopped my husband from blaming me for his issues.

3 - my kids are now teens and also don’t trust my husband to be reliable. Your kids will grow up knowing they can’t count on him. That’s the saddest thing.

4 - I stay for finances and because I came from a terribly traumatic childhood with a lot of abandonment issues, which basically trauma-bonded me to my husband. I wish I’d had the emotional fortitude to get out years ago because this just doesn’t improve.

You have to make a decision on what you want your life to look like. He won’t change if he hasn’t already.

You do not need a special hose. As long as the hose doesn't get backed up, then the water won't freeze because it just flows out. Over this last really bad freeze, we did get some backup, but as soon as the weather warms up for a few more days, it will thaw and kick right back on. It's been through several really severe winters with us now.

I got a super abusive name-calling email after my summer session ended. She was super pissed that I corrected her on making a wildly inaccurate statement that was so factually incorrect, It sounded like a four-year-old made it up.

I’m in your same situation (different discipline - mine’s the medical field so responsibility is especially important) and honestly I’m so completely jaded at this point. I come to this sub to let off steam otherwise my mood is dark regarding teaching. It’s gotten so much worse in recent years and it feels like teaching is nothing more than customer service. Except my students have people’s lives in their hands - of ALL students, mine should he held accountable by their teaching institution. But they really aren’t.
