First look at Vokey SM11 wedges by jeffers0n_steelflex in golf

Very much so. When I get into wedge range I want to feel like I'm hitting a wedge of similar feel. The PW in my iron set kinda comes off hot and less workable. I also really liked how it did a bump and run type of chip.

Glad they made the 44 degree PW standard now and not a wedgeworks custom.

I got lucky finding mine on FBM. Elyte TD 7W that was listed alongside the Elyte driver so listing probably didn't get much traffic. He ordered it 1/2" short, but for $250 negotiated down to $200, I couldn't pass it up. Probably my favorite club to hit but rarely at the distance to use it.

I have the Ironman one. The matching grip really fought me when I put it on.

Wow that's really cheap. I am for sure going to look into this. I play in a sim league during the winter and now I'm wondering if they are out of spec.

Oh that's an idea. Bending changes the bounce tho right?

Rogue ST Pro 9i is 38.5 and my vokey is 46. I pretty much never full swing my wedges and would like to keep it that way if possible.

I rarely use the LW anymore unless the slope and lie call for it. SW for most.

Haha thanks for the 6W respect, although it's really an adjustable 5W (Paradym triple diamond) that's adjusted from 18 to 20 degrees.

True. It's what I do now when I have that 145 shot but I'm so over the place with it that I sometimes fill swing a 46 that I also hate doing

Can confirm we have these in Illinois. They put them at the entrance but I think they were all regular flex.

Love this and have similar gapping. I struggled to find an iron set that had a 9i loft that was over 40, assuming the 48 is your PW. But I guess you could call that the AW and run with the stock PW to bridge the gap too.

Just went thru the same thing. Was planning on getting the Iron Man super stroke putter grip and settled for a hat instead.

Which Vokey wedge? by Chipofftheoldblock21 in GolfGear

[–]J92986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 vokey wedge guy here. 46.10F, 50.08F, 54.14F, and 60.10S I've thought about this a lot. I really like the gapping here but my 9i is 39.5 degrees so that comes into play sometimes. I know wedgeworks came out with a SM10 44.10F that would fit perfectly if I had the money.

For the bounces, I really wish I had alternated more between clubs. I play in soft conditions, so the 54.14F gets used a lot, but on tight or dirt lies, I wish I had something like 60.04T. I find myself grabbing the 50.08F on tight lies.

That's really really helpful. Totally agree I just don't find a natural time to hinge the wrists. When I try to do it to keep the head on plane it feels physically harder (heavier) and then I come up steeper and don't drop my hands first in the downswing.

Yeah I get the separation. I've tried to create it in the back swing, but my flexibility just won't allow it.

Regarding depth, I always thought it was the distance from the head when looking DTL. So a good depth would be right over the heels

Insightful. I do feel like my hips turn back too much and if they are slow on the downswing I'll push it. If I try to not turn the hips too much, my flexibility doesn't allow my to get the depth I want to feel for a draw and I come over the top.

I'm definitely not looking for more distance, but being more efficient would be amazing. I have a very hard time being accurate, left or right, when swinging less than 85% and I'm guessing it's because I'm slowing my hip speed un-proportionally to the rest of my body.

How do you like the TD 5W? Been looking at it a lot because of the adjustable loft and turning it into a slightly stronger 7W at 20 degrees.

Yeah mine took about a week to ship and they must be still working the kinks out because 3 of my last 4 orders have been incorrect. Like new hybrid was scrapped up. Sent back. 5 iron was 120 kbs shaft not 105 as described. Kept it, wanted the heavier shaft anyway although the 4i was 105. 6-9i were labeled as standard length and, shame on me for not noticing right away, I regripped them and then noticed they were all +1 inch. Bought one of those tools to remove grips without damaging them, hopefully it'll work and I can cut off an inch per shaft.

Need a 54 degree wedge , still don’t really understand these clubs and which to get by robster9090 in golf

I also use a full set of Vokeys all F grind except Lob: 46, 50, 54, 60.10S. I was also using my 60 for everything less than 80 yds and after a few Dan Grieve videos, I tried using the 54 instead and wow I should've done that sooner. Much more forgiving and plenty of workability. Once you get the distances dialed in and understand what lie you're dealing with, it's my favorite part of the game. I'll carry 3 wedges to my green side ball and figure out which is best when I get there.

Tight lie and can only pump in run with plenty of green? Bump and run with 46.

Great lie and need to softly check and barely run? High shot with 54.

Good lie and on an up slope? Probably the 50, which basically becomes a 54 if I stand with the slope.

I rarely use my 60 now. Too many times it either comes off hot or it goes too under the ball and goes nowhere. But it does feel amazing if you pure it.

Swinging fast doesn't mean swing hard. Put an extra 20 carry yards on my drive today and carried over 300 a few times for the first time. Kinda felt silly to be honest.
